Prince William and Kate Middleton Will Take a ‘Cautious Approach’ to Kate’s Birthday in January
Prince William and Kate Middleton are excited for what should be a successful 2025. The couple went through so much in 2024, with Kate revealing last year in March that she had been diagnosed with cancer. Now, the princess is cancer free, has returned to royal duties, and is preparing to celebrate her birthday, but she is reportedly still taking time to get back to full health.
One expert claims Kate and William are taking a more “cautious” approach to the princess’ upcoming 43rd birthday in January.
Kate Middleton will turn 43 in January
The Princess of Wales’ life was turned upside down last year after she underwent abdominal surgery shortly after her 42nd birthday. She later learned that she’d had cancer, and while she never revealed what kind, she did undergo several months of chemotherapy treatment. Now, the princess is cancer free, but she will reportedly still take it easy as she prepares to celebrate another birthday.
“She must take each day as it comes,” royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said of Kate’s upcoming birthday celebration, according to Express. “If you look at Kensington Palace and the way they handled this, they’ve been very careful,” he said, referring to how the palace has handled Kate’s schedule and public appearance since her diagnosis.
William previously said that 2024 was a “brutal” year for his family and that he looked forward to potentially taking some trips with Kate in 2025, likely formal royal engagements but perhaps also a vacation or two.
Kate has remained largely out of the spotlight since her diagnosis, though she did make a few more royal appearances toward the end of 2024 and appeared with the family on Christmas.
Prince William and Kate Middleton usually have low-key birthday celebrations
William and Kate don’t usually do anything too wild for their birthdays, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that they are choosing to stay low key once again for Kate’s special day. Very little is known about what the two do, but they have always put a strong emphasis on family and most likely will spend Kate’s day with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
William and Kate have remained quiet about Kate’s cancer journey, only speaking about it to the public a handful of times. Neither Kate nor King Charles, who was also diagnosed with cancer in 2024, have said what cancer type they were diagnosed with. However, the public doesn’t need to be privy to such personal information. Rather, everyone is thankful that Charles seems to be doing well and that Kate is completely done with her treatment.
