Prince William and Prince Charles ‘Undoubtedly Bonded’ Over Drama With Prince Harry, Expert Says
The royal family has been shaken up in recent years thanks to drama concerning Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The two of them stepped down as senior royals in early 2020 and moved to California, though this has not been a smooth process.
According to an expert, Prince William and Prince Charles have been working closely together because of the royal rift.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been at odds with other royals
After moving to California, Harry and Meghan began speaking to media outlets about their grievances against the royal family.
In early 2021, the couple sat down for a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey. They dropped many bombshells, including accusing some royals of being racist and claiming that Meghan did not receive help for her mental health.
Harry also appeared on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, where he said Charles passed down “genetic pain and suffering” to him.
According to some sources, Charles has been “hurt” by the Sussexes’ comments. Royal author Robert Lacey noted (via The Daily Beast), “The animus to publicly wound his father in a way that was not necessary would likely be very upsetting to Charles.”

William and Charles have not publicly shared their thoughts on the drama with Harry and Meghan. Nonetheless, royal author Phil Dampier said that William and Charles have become closer this past year.
“Following his father’s death, Charles is now spending a lot more time at Sandringham, the Queen’s Norfolk home, where he has taken over a lot of Prince Philip’s duties,” Dampier said (via Express). “The Cambridges spend most weekends at Anmer Hall, their country pile up there, which means father and son are now seeing a lot more of each other.”
Dampier added, “They have also undoubtedly bonded over the fallout of the Oprah Winfrey interview.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not returned to the U.K. much
Ever since moving to California, Harry and Meghan have not returned to the United Kingdom very much. In 2021, Harry traveled to his home country twice—he attended the funeral of Prince Philip as well as the unveiling of a Princess Diana statue. However, Meghan and the kids have only remained in the United States.
Recently it has been revealed that the family is hesitant to travel to the U.K. because of security concerns. A spokesperson for the Sussexes shared that Harry and Meghan have tried to personally pay for police protection in the U.K. but was denied, leaving the Sussexes to only have a private security team.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex personally fund a private security team for their family, yet that security cannot replicate the necessary police protection needed while in the UK,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “In the absence of such protection, Prince Harry and his family are unable to return to his home.”
As a result, Harry has filed to seek judicial review for his right to pay for police protection for his family.
