Prince William Was Reportedly ‘Disgusted’ by Meghan Markle’s Comments About Kate Middleton, Author Says
Like most royals, Prince William often stays quiet in the face of scandals and negative press. As such, it is not always easy to tell how the Duke of Cambridge feels about certain events that happened.
For example, in 2021, his sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, made some comments about his wife, Kate Middleton. According to a royal author, William was “disgusted” by those comments.
What did Meghan Markle say about Kate Middleton?
In early 2021, Meghan and Prince Harry sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a tell-all interview after stepping down as senior royals and moving to the United States. She mentioned Kate a few times during the interview.
In one instance, Meghan discussed the British press’ treatment of her compared to Kate. “Kate was called ‘Waity Katie,’ waiting to marry William,” Meghan said. “While I imagine that was really hard—and I do, I can’t picture what that felt like—this is not the same.”
Additionally, Meghan addressed the rumor that she made Kate cry in the process of planning Meghan and Harry’s 2018 wedding. According to Meghan, “the reverse happened.”
“And I don’t say that to be disparaging to anyone, because it was a really hard week of the wedding, and she was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologized, and she brought me flowers and a note apologizing and she did what I would do if I knew that I hurt someone. To just take accountability for it,” Meghan said.
She added, “Everyone in the institution knew it wasn’t true [that I made Kate cry]. I’m not sharing that piece about Kate in any way to be disparaging to her. I think it’s really important for people to understand the truth, but also I think a lot of it that was fed into by the media.”

According to royal biographer Tina Brown, William did not respond well to the comments Meghan made about Kate during the Oprah interview.
“William was disgusted about Meghan’s attack on Kate, because she can’t answer back,” Brown told The Telegraph.
She also believes William will be even more “furious” later this year when Harry releases his memoir, which is rumored to have negative remarks about the royal family.

Not long before Meghan and Harry’s Oprah interview aired, British news outlet The Times published a scathing report of bullying accusations from Meghan’s former staff members. However, even before the report came out, there had already been rumors of Meghan being difficult to work with.
“The moment [William] heard the bullying allegations, he related to [one of his friends], he got straight on the phone to talk to Harry — and when Harry flared up in furious defence of his wife, the elder brother persisted,” Lacey wrote in the book Battle of Brothers, according to a new article from The Times. “Harry shut off his phone angrily, so William went to speak to him personally.”
Lacey added, “The prince was horrified by what he had just been told about Meghan’s alleged behaviour, and he wanted to hear what Harry had to say.”
