Prince William Shocks Podcast Host Who Asks What He Should Officially Call Him
It’s a rare thing to get Prince William to sit down and do a podcast, so if you get that opportunity you want to make sure everything goes well.
For podcasters Chris Stark, Tom Fordyce, and ex-former England striker Peter Crouch they did get to record an episode of The Peter Crouch Podcast with the future king and were invited to his home in Kensington Palace to do it. The men sat down for a chat about sports and mental health. But before they got started Stark needed to know how to refer to William and the prince’s answer shocked him.
It also gained a lot of attention on TikTok as a video of that moment has gone viral with millions of views.
Prince William’s surprising answer when host asked what to call him
The podcast took place in the summer of 2020 and Stark opened by asking William: “What do we call you by the way? This is what I’m already struggling with.”
William then answered: “Your Royal Highness will do.” However, the Prince of Wales couldn’t keep a straight face for long and let it be known he was joking and just wanted to see Stark’s surprised face. The royal then shared that calling him “William” was completely fine.
That clip has made the rounds on TikTok recently and racked up more than 6 million views, over 579,000 likes, and hundreds of comments with many discussing how “down-to-earth” the prince seems.
“He is just so warm,” one person remarked while another said: “He’s got such a fun dry sense of humor.”
A third added that William has: “His mother’s humor and his mother’s smile.”
And a fourth wrote: “He seems like he’d be fun to have a pint with.”
Another person posted: “When he becomes king and Kate becomes Queen, the magnitude of the excitement will be so great. He will be a fantastic monarch.”
William surprises host with food from one of his favorite restaurants
Another moment during the podcast that had fans in stitches was when there was a knock at the door as they were all mid-conversation.
Stark mentioned that someone had knocked and then William got up and walked towards the door. As he did, Fordyce blurted out: “I’m surprised you have to answer the door yourself.” Everyone began laughing before the prince presented a plate of curries and explained that the food came from Crouch’s curry house of choice called Samrat.
“I think it’s the first time that Samrats ever delivered to Kensington Palace,” Crouch exclaimed.
The prince joked back: “There’s an Uber driver out there on the floor at the moment being frisked.”
William previously confirmed that his favorite takeaway dish is a chicken masala and he loves curry, just as long as it’s not too hot. He once told MasterChef winner Saliha Mahmood-Ahmed: “Me and heat not so good. I love spice but not heat.”
