Prince William’s Reportedly Unfazed by His ‘Dad Dancing’ at Taylor Swift’s Concert Going Viral
Prince William shook it off at Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour concert alongside Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, 9. Now it seems he hasn’t stopped. The Prince of Wales is reportedly shaking off the fact that a video of his “dad dancing” from the Grammy winner’s June 21, 2024, performance went viral on social media.
William wouldn’t care about his viral dancing to ‘Shake It Off’ at Taylor Swift’s concert
William hasn’t spoken publicly about going viral for his so-called “dad dancing”—here’s hoping he does someday. Instead, an insider who knows the heir to the throne shared his likely reaction.
They told ET William wouldn’t care that his dancing went viral because he has other things to focus on, first and foremost his family. Kate Middleton is continuing preventative chemotherapy treatment three months after announcing her cancer diagnosis.
“He is focused on his wife and children right now,” the source said of William. “He really just wanted it to be a special night for Prince George and Princess Charlotte.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales’ two older children joined their dad at Wembley Stadium for Swift’s concert, which fell on William’s 42nd birthday. Meanwhile, Kate is thought to have stayed home with the youngest of the Wales kids, 6-year-old Prince Louis.
William’s dancing wasn’t the only viral moment from the Taylor Swift concert
In addition to the video of William dancing enthusiastically to “Shake It Off,” selfies of the royals with Swift also went viral. William, George, and Charlotte met Swift backstage shortly before she took the stage.
“Thank you @taylorswift for a great evening! #LondonTSTheErastour,” the Instagram caption read. The meeting almost didn’t happen because the royals were “running really late,” (via Hello!).
Meanwhile, the “Down Bad” singer shared a sweet selfie on her own Instagram featuring the royals and her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. “Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start,” Swift captioned the post.
Prince William charmed Travis and Jason Kelce at the ‘Eras’ concert
During the June 26 episode of their “New Heights” podcast, co-hosts Travis and Jason Kelce discussed meeting the British royals. Not only did William get their parenting stamp of approval—they loved that the kids, particularly Charlotte, asked questions—but Travis described the future king as “the coolest.”
“Dude, he was the coolest mother f*****,” Travis said. “He was so cool. I didn’t realize this because obviously we were backstage meeting him because he was there with little George and Charlotte and they were an absolute delight to meet.”
“It was awesome meeting you, and Charlotte and George,” he later added, noting they wanted to be “polite” to the royals despite not knowing what to do—bow, curtsy, shake hands, etc.—upon being introduced.
Philadelphia Eagles alum Jason even said they got a “warning” at one point “because, honestly, we don’t know.”
William, George, and Charlotte—and who knows, possibly even Kate and Louis—may get another chance to spend some time with Swift later in the summer. She’s returning to London in August for five more shows at Wembley Stadium.
