Prince William’s Not ‘Wasting Time on Things He Can’t Change,’ Including Prince Harry — Author
TL; DR:
- A royal author says Prince William feels “there’s nothing more he can do” about his relationship with Prince Harry.
- Instead, Prince William’s supposedly focused on what he knows he can change.
- Another royal author says Prince William’s “shutting the door” on Prince Harry.
No big Prince William and Prince Harry reunion happened during Platinum Jubilee weekend. The brothers, who last stepped out in public together to unveil a Princess Diana statue in 2021, notably sat nowhere near each other at a National Service of Thanksgiving. According to royal authors, the Duke and Cambridge feels there is “nothing more he can do” so he’s “shutting the door” and focusing on other things.
Prince William and Prince Harry sat on opposite sides of St. Paul’s Cathedral
All eyes were on the Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle on June 3, 2022. That day the pair made their first joint UK public appearance since stepping back from senior royal life in 2020.
They, along with other British royals, honored Queen Elizabeth II during a National Service of Thanksgiving. Harry and Meghan arrived at St. Paul’s Cathedral where they sat in the second row with Princesses Beatrice, Eugenie, and their respective husbands.
Meanwhile, William and his wife, Kate Middleton, sat on the opposite side of the church with Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.
Any hope royal watchers had of seeing the brothers interact was gone by the end of the 50-minute service. They remained far away from each other even as they exited St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Prince William feels ‘there is nothing more he can do,’ according to a royal author
There’s nothing else Prince William can do, according to author and royal expert Ingrid Seward. As she told the UK’s Mirror, per Express, in June 2022, Katie tried to help the brothers reconcile but William’s in a place now where there’s “nothing more he can do.”
“Kate went a long way to encourage their relationship, Seward said. “And although William has always looked out for Harry, he feels at the moment there is nothing more he can do.”
“Instead, he is concentrating on what he knows he can achieve rather than wasting time on things he can’t change,” she explained. “He knows what’s in store for him and he knows how tough it is but with the help of Kate and support from his father the Prince of Wales, he remains positive and optimistic about his future.”
Prince Harry has a ‘very long road back’ to getting Prince William’s approval
Speaking on Australian TV, the Daily Mirror’s royal editor, Russell Myers, shared it’s his opinion Harry showed signs of being “desperate for approval from his brother” at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Per Express, the show’s host, Karl Stefanovic expressed surprise the “shutouts” seem to be coming from William and not Harry.
“I think we all assumed, considering the bad press around Meghan and Harry, that it’s always like them subbing people,” he said. “But actually, Harry is looking for approval from his brother but his brother is shutting the door.”
Myers replied, saying Harry’s “still longing for belonging from his family” but it’s unlikely to happen if he keeps giving interviews. “When he is still giving interviews, sort of, slagging them off every now and then, it’s a very, very long road back for him unfortunately at this moment.”
