Princess Beatrice’s Wedding: Fun Facts and Trivia Every Royal Fan Should Know
The royal family remains an endless source of fascination for pop culture fans around the world. Royal weddings, in particular, always manage to summon a great deal of interest and curiosity. Prince William and Kate Middleton had a high-profile wedding, and millions watched Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials. However, one member of the royal family tied the knot in relative secrecy in July 2020: Princess Beatrice. She is the daughter of Prince Edward, Queen Elizabeth’s youngest child, and Sarah Ferguso. And for royal fans, Princess Beatrice’s wedding to longtime love Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi is one of the hottest royal family topics of the past several years.
Princess Beatrice’s wedding cake likely matched her bouquet
Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Princess Beatrice tied the knot on July 17, 2020, in an ultra-small ceremony at the Royal Chapel of All Saints, Royal Lodge, Windsor. The royal wedding, which was not announced in advance, had been rescheduled from May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When planning their wedding, the two lovebirds took every precaution. However, they still allowed for special details that made their day special.
Ultimately, very few photos and details have been revealed to the public. So it is not known what flavor of wedding cake Princess Beatrice chose. However, according to Hello Magazine, the cake likely included some of the same colors and themes as Princess Beatrice’s bouquet. It featured flowers such as trailing jasmine, cream sweet and pale pink peas, royal porcelain ivory spray roses, pink o’hara garden roses, pink wax flower, and baby pink astilbe.
It is also likely that Princess Beatrice and her new husband chose a flavor suitable for summer, considering that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry opted for a light lemon and elderflower cake for the May 2018 nuptials.
Why did Beatrice wear the Queen’s dress at her wedding?
Many members of the royal family like to give some sort of nod to the queen during their ceremony. Princess Beatrice proved to be no exception, choosing a Norman Hartnell gown that was previously worn by Queen Elizabeth for her wedding ceremony, according to Insider. The stunning dress was made from Peau De Soie taffeta and trimmed with ivory Duchess satin. It marked a break with tradition, as previous royal brides like Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton both had wedding dresses custom-made.
Princess Beatrice made sure that the dress looked stunning on her big day by having the dress remodeled and fitted to her measurements. All in all, wearing a dress that belonged to the queen was a sweet way of honoring her grandmother.
Princess Bea’s engagement ring and sweet proposal story
Although Princess Beatrice’s wedding dress wasn’t custom designed, her engagement ring definitely was. According to Brides Magazine, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi worked with the popular British jeweler Shaun Lane to create Princess Beatrice’s engagement ring. The ring features a stunning 3.5-carat round center diamond. The center stone is flanked by two smaller diamonds and is accompanied by tapered baguettes. This, according to Brides Magazine, gives the ring a fabulous Art Deco-inspired look.
As for Princess Beatrice’s sweet proposal story, Mozzi popped the question in September 2019, after about a year of dating. After getting engaged, the two allowed their big news to be shared on the royal family’s Instagram account. The statement from the couple read, “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married.”
These days, Princess Beatrice and Mozzi are enjoying their newest adventure. They welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Sienna Elizabeth, in September 2021.
