Princess Eugenie Once Recalled a ‘Screaming’ Match With Sister Princess Beatrice About Shoes
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are close, but that doesn’t mean the royal sisters don’t argue from time to time. As teenagers, they had one particular “argument” about shoes that had them “screaming” at each other. Ahead, how it played out and what Eugenie said about her sister still being “annoying.”
Beatrice and Eugenie once had a ‘screaming argument’ about Converse shoes
Shortly before turning 18 in 2008, Eugenie told the U.K’s Telegraph that they’re “like most sisters” in that they have heated arguments about clothes.
She and Beatrice lived at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, England, with their parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, who divorced in 1996 but remain close.
“Like most sisters, we sometimes fight about clothes,” she said. “I always take her clothes back to school, for instance, which she hates.”
Eugenie, who is now a mother of two, continued, saying they’d even fought over a pair of Converse shoes. “We had a screaming argument over a pair of Converse trainers that I took back, which she said were hers and I said were mine. And in the end, I realised [sic] they were hers when I found mine behind the door.”
She added that despite arguing with Beatrice, they’re close. “Like all sisters, we have silly arguments about unimportant stuff, but we do love each other to death.”
Beatrice discussed the same argument 10 years later in a joint British Vogue interview with Eugenie. She told the publication they’d had identical pairs of shoes—same size, same color—and one wound up “trashed,” hence the argument.
Eugenie’s now ‘best friends’ with her sister
These days Beatrice is Eugenie’s “best friend.” During an October 2023 appearance on the “White Wine Question Time” podcast, she called Beatrice a major source of support. Although she did also admit they can, at times, get on each other’s nerves.
“She’s annoying when she wants to be, and I’m really annoying to her back, but we love each other—best of friends,” Eugenie said. “She’s a great mom. I always ring her for nearly everything: ‘What do I do about this? What do I do about that?’ [The] Same goes for my mom. Literally, constant.”
Eugenie also shared how she and Beatrice have always been for their each other. “We’re the only ones going through exactly what the other is going through at exactly that time as a girl,” she said. “In our family, our place of work, whatever it is. You go through life knowing exactly what the other one is going through.”
“She’s my big sissy. She’s a legend,” she added.
They took a girls’ trip earlier this year
Long gone are the days of arguing about shoes—or maybe not. Now, at least, in between potential fashion-related sibling squabbles, Beatrice and Eugenie spend some quality time together.
Wishing Beatrice a happy birthday on Aug. 8, 2024, Eugenie posted three never-before-seen photos of her and “Beabea” to Instagram. One showed Beatrice jumping on a trip to Saudi Arabia back in April. (She was there speaking at an economics event, according to Vanity Fair.)
The second showed the two jumping—with the addition of a trampoline that was hidden from view in the first image. Finally, the third showed Beatrice, clad in bunny ears, playing with one of her nephews. “Happy birthday dearest Beabea!!” Eugenie captioned the post, calling her sibling an “inspiration.”
“You’ve paved the way for your little sissy,” she continued before signing off with, “Love you xx.”
