Queen Camilla Always Had Her ‘Suspicions’ of Meghan so They Were ‘Never Close,’ Expert Says
After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as working royals, the duke made it known exactly how he felt about his stepmother, Queen Camilla (formerly known as Camilla Parker Bowles). But far less is known about Harry’s wife‘s feelings for Camilla and their relationship.
Well, a royal expert has said the reason is because there’s really no relationship to speak of since the two were “never close” and Camilla was “suspicious of Meghan’s motives” from the start.
Camilla and Meghan ‘didn’t have a budding relationship’
Camilla is someone who could understand what Meghan was going through when she married Harry being new to the family and dealing with press scrutiny. Therefore, many figured she would be the perfect person to guide the duchess in her new life. And while there have been reports that Camilla did offer a helping hand at some point, she always had “suspicions” about Meghan’s motives for joining the royal family.
Royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital: “Before Prince Harry’s tell-all autobiography, denigrating his own family and particularly Camilla, she and Meghan Markle didn’t exactly have a budding friendship, to say the least.”
Fordwich claimed: “Camilla went out of her way to assist Meghan when she was experiencing difficulties with her own father. Charles is said to have also offered Meghan help. Fast-forward post-Oprah interview, Netflix documentary, Spare, and numerous interviews, Meghan has been labeled ‘that minx’ and ‘ungrateful’ by Camilla, who was suspicious from the get-go of Meghan’s motives.
“Many say they actually never enjoyed a close relationship. The suspicion is Camilla had been finding it tough to believe Meghan would sacrifice her ‘career and independence’ to serve silently behind her man as a team player devoted to the monarchy.”
Another royal tried to offer Meghan help but the duchess didn’t want it
Another person who reportedly offered to help Meghan when she became a member of the royal family is Prince Edward’s wife, Sophie (formerly the Countess of Wessex).
According to Queen Elizabeth II’s friend Gyles Brandreth, the late monarch was even in agreement that Sophie would be the ideal mentor for Meghan. So the Duchess of Edinburgh invited the Duchess of Sussex over to her home for tea when the Suits star first joined the family.
“It was just the two of them and they talked for hours,“ a senior royal source told The Sun. “Meghan had so many questions and Sophie, who knows what it’s like navigating your way through the early days of transition from a commoner to a royal, gave freely of her advice.
“Sophie found Meghan likable and engaging and told her that she could call her any time when she needed advice about dealing with some of the trickier royals. She was quite surprised when that was the last she heard from Meghan.”
