One of the royals who was not safe from Prince Harry‘s wrath when he published his memoir Spare in 2023 was his stepmother, Queen Camilla (formerly known as Camilla Parker Bowles).

The Duke of Sussex didn’t hold back when he discussed his father’s wife during his promotional tour for the book describing Camilla as “dangerous” and a “villain.” In his 60 Minutes interview with Anderson Cooper, Harry doubled down and declared his stepmom “dangerous because of the connections that she was forging within the British press … and with her, on the way to being queen consort, there was gonna be people or bodies left in the street because of that.”

Moreover, in one passage of his book the prince wrote: “I had complex feelings about gaining a stepparent, who I thought had recently sacrificed me on her personal PR altar.”

Now, Camilla’s friend has issued the duke a warning after his plan backfired.

Queen Camilla’s friend says Prince Harry’s attempt to ‘divide the county’ backfired

Author, broadcaster, and close friend of the queen’s, Petronella Wyatt, decided to hit back at Harry for the unkind things he wrote about Camilla in his book.

“I’m not sure Harry realized how incendiary [Spare] was. The whole country [U.K.] seemed to be taking sides,” Wyatt explained per Sky News Australia. “I don’t think Harry thinks things through. I think it’s his nature just to press the nuclear button.”

Wyatt added that since Harry’s memoir was published, “Camilla’s popularity has increased while the Duke of Sussex’s has faded” and the two have seen a role reversal.

She said: “Harry and Camilla’s positions within the royal family have virtually reversed. Camilla used to be the hated outcast now it’s Harry and Camilla’s seen with affection.”

Wyatt warned that Harry “has to move on from casting Camilla as the wicked stepmother.”

Future attempts for Harry to see the king will be difficult because Camilla had enough of his game

Harry’s decision to bash Camilla publicly resulted in the prince not feeling too welcome the last time he saw his father, leaving “no doubt that he isn’t wanted back.” Queen Camilla was said to be “outraged” when Harry showed up unannounced to see King Charles after the monarch publicly announced his cancer diagnosis in February.

A courtier told RadarOnline that “Her Majesty was furious Harry flew in from his ritzy California home without getting Palace approval and came with an attitude. I’m told Camilla was outraged. She has taken a lot of bile from Harry for years and could not take him using her husband’s cancer as a ‘loving son’ PR move.”

They added Camilla has taken it all on the chin, but using her husband’s cancer as a PR stunt was the last straw.

Harry has since released his paperback edition of Spare. That version did not include any new claims against his family or any updates at all, and it’s languishing in a dismal 73rd place on the British charts after moving just a few thousand copies.
