‘Queen of the South’ Will End With Season 5, Here’s the Official Premiere Date
Time to pour a shot of Siete Gotas and raise a toast to Teresa Mendoza, because her tale is soon coming to an end.
After waiting for more than one year for Queen of the South to return with season 5, the show is dropping this spring. A new trailer and a new announcement confirm that it’s the end of the road for the popular USA TV series.
‘Queen of the South’ Season 5 will mark the end
Fans have watched Teresita escape the claws of the Mexican cartel, beat Camila at her own game, and take down Epifanio Vargas.
Through the years, the audience felt her heart break over Guero and Brenda, and in the last season, Tony and Javier. We’ve witnessed her go through the trials of El Santo and best some of the most ruthless drug lords around the world. But it ain’t over.
Teresa has held her own after being sucked into a criminal life that was never part of the plan and has turned herself into a savvy businesswoman. With Pote, King George, and other loyal friends by her side, she’s come a long way.
Friends and fans, USA is dropping one final season of Queen of the South that will bring Teresa Mendoza’s story to a close — white pantsuit and all.
According to The Wrap, executive producers Ben Lobato, Dailyn Rodriguez, and David Friendly issued a joint statement about the show’s end.
“We could not be prouder of our entire cast and crew that joined us on this magnificent journey,” they said. “‘Queen of the South’ began shooting in Mexico City, brought us to faraway places like Malta and Colombia and finally landed in New Orleans. We cannot wait to share the explosive final season with our devoted fans. And, of course, we could not have made this show without the talented and tireless Alice Braga, who brought our queen to life.”
‘Queen of the South’ trailer reveals more trouble from Lafayette
Along with this news came a fresh trailer that pits Teresa up against the evil Lafayette and other adversaries.
Hopefully, she’ll decide to go all Mortal Kombat on him and finish him. And then there’s Boaz — who’s always had his own agenda — bringing a new set of disruptive problems to her door. What’s happening in Sinaloa and Miami? According to Pote, the day keeps getting better and better.
With James back on the scene, viewers wonder who else poses a threat besides the local crime syndicates and the law. We know Kostya is coming from Russia, but now it looks like a government agency is back on Teresa’s tail.
‘Queen of the South’ sets April debut date
Queen of the South Season 5 will premiere on April 7 at 10 p.m. EST on USA. This season will feature 10 episodes for its final run. Alice Braga stars as Teresa with Hemy Madera as Pote, Peter Gadiot as James, Ryan O’Nan as King George, and Alimi Ballard as Marcel.
Fans can currently catch up on seasons 1-4 on Netflix.
