‘Queer Eye’ Star Antoni Porowski, Chrissy Teigen, and More Celebs’ Go-to Super Bowl Dishes
Super Bowl 55 is upon us. Normally, the Super Bowl means gathering with friends and family, eating good food, and watching hilarious commercials. This year’s game might be a little different. Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, people have been encouraged to stay home and avoid gathering to watch the game like they normally would. Though the Super Bowl might look quite different this year, there’s no reason you can’t still make some delicious food to enjoy the game. However, you might just need to make a little less than normal. Here’s what the celebs are eating to watch the big game.
Antoni Poroswki
You may know Antoni Porowski from Queer Eye. On the show, he is the Fab Five’s resident foodie. He has helped even the worst cooks come up with something delicious to make. But when it comes to the Super Bowl, Porowski wants fans to keep it simple.
“Honestly, I think of snacks,” he told Us Weekly when discussing the big game. Porowski revealed that he loves nothing more than pigs in a blanket with Dijon mustard.
“I want to have a nice Dijon with a little bit of honey and, like, way too many pigs in blanket,” he said. “Then when I get full, [I can] remove the croissant crust and just eat the pigs.”
Chrissy Teigen
When it comes to food, Chrissy Teigen is the queen. The Cravings by Chrissy Teigen owner has more than a few recipes to keep you full on Sunday.
Like Porowski, she also recommended pigs in a blanket, but with a twist.
“There’s pigs in a blanket… and then there’s pigs in a blanket topped with everything bagel seasoning,” she wrote on her Cravings website. “Everyone loves mini hot dogs wrapped in flaky, golden puff pastry, so why not add some flair with a sprinkle of oniony, garlicky, seedy goodness?”
She also recommended baked fried pickles as a somewhat healthy option.
“These pickles are so good that you’ll think they’re fried, but are actually baked! (If you have an air fryer, this would be a great recipe to cook in it, too!) Coating in chipotle ranch and crushed chips gives them extra flavor and crunch before you dunk them into a smoky, herby dip.”
Her husband, John Legend, on the other hand, likes Frito pies.
“John’s best recipes are simple twists on classic dishes,” she writes. “His homemade chili is great on its own, but even better when stuffed inside a bag of Frito corn chips, topped with pickled jalapeños and cheese that helps everything melt and mingle together.”
Teigen also suggests pizza dip, wings, guacamole, and cubano sandwices to go along with the game.
Ina Garten
Ina Garten is a cooking dynamo. But for the Super Bowl, she recommends a simple appetizer, roasted shrimp cocktail Louis.
“It’s over-the-top delicious, and so easy to make for a crowd,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “Rather than cooking shrimp in big pots of boiling water, I buy them peeled, toss them on a sheet pan with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then roast them for just 10 minutes. I promise it will be everyone’s favorite dish at your party!”
Guy Fieri
Last year, Guy Fieri recommended a somewhat questionable dish called trash can nachos.
“OK, don’t let the name fool you here!” the write-up on Food Network reads. “These party-ready nachos are the ultimate in delicious indulgence. Guy uses a big empty can (but you can use a pot too) to layer chips, a gooey cheese sauce, juicy carne asana, and black beans to create a showstopping nacho masterpiece your friends will love.”
