After playing his college ball with Eastern Michigan University, Maxx Crosby was selected by the then-Oakland Raiders in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

The defensive end had an immediate impact on the team. In a game against the Cincinnati Bengals, his four sacks were the most made in a single game by a rookie in franchise history and the most by a Raider in a single game since 2015. He’s been selected to the Pro Bowl multiple times and has become one of the most-feared defensive players in the league as quarterback Patrick Mahomes once said, “He’s right at the top of the list.”

Perhaps Crosby was made to play the position of a huge figure chasing down his opponents. After all his sheer size when was born, weighing 11lbs & 9oz, is the reason he has a second x in his name as his mother added an x when she delivered an extra large baby.

As great as Crosby is on the field he’s winning off the field too with the love and support from his wife, who he says he wouldn’t be where he is today without. Here’s more about Rachel Washburn.

When Crosby and Washburn met and got married

Washburn was born on June 13, 1995, in Hartland, Michigan, to parents Mark and Trisha. She has two siblings — a sister Ashley and a brother Chad. Washburn and Crosby met in 2016 when they were both students at EMU.

As she told People they were friends for a while before they began dating. She recalled: “We went to Masa, this Mexican restaurant. We became really good friends and started to date two months later.”

Their relationship hit a rough patch and they split up for a bit when Crosby struggled with alcoholism. The football player reached out to Washburn at his lowest point and she immediately packed her bags and headed to Vegas to be by his side.

In March 2020, Crosby checked into rehab for alcoholism and started getting his life back on track. In 2022, the couple welcomed their daughter, Ella Rose, before they tied the knot in 2023.

Washburn is an athlete as well

Like her husband, Washburn is also an athlete.

She played soccer at Hartland High School where she was team captain and led Hartland to a district championship. She was also named Defensive Player of the Year all four years at the school. After graduation, she attended EMU where she majored in Sports Management and played for the Eagles. Washburn was named to the Loyola Invitational All-Tournament Team in 2015.

These days she works with her husband managing his website, Mad Maxx Merch. In addition, the pair established The Maxx Crosby Foundation. The non-profit is “dedicated to the support of teen substance abuse intervention, youth health and wellness, animal rescue and abuse prevention, as well as other charitable causes.”

Crosby credits his wife with saving his life

After the arrival of their little girl, Crosby shared a heartfelt tribute to Washburn on Instagram in which he again praised her for helping him through his ups and downs and credited her with saving his life.

“Since Day 1, You’ve Held Me Down At My Lowest & Highest Moments,” he wrote. “From The Eastern Days, Rehab, Literally Everything. You Always Had My Back, Even When I Didn’t Deserve It But You Truly Saved My Life.

“I’ve Had A Rough Past That I’m Still Working Through & Everyday Battles That You Help Me With Everyday. All This To Say I F****** Love You Forever & Ella Is About To Have The Best Momma On [The] Planet.”
