Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande are two of the biggest celebrities alive. Because of that, they can sometimes seem larger than life. However, they can also be incredibly down-to-earth and human, even whole making a dance song like “Rain on Me.”

Sometimes their down-to-earth qualities come across in their music. Other times, it comes across in their statements. Gaga and Grande have recently opened up about the very human reason why they bonded during the creation of their song “Rain on Me.”

Crying is sometimes considered to be an expression of weakness. However, it can also be cathartic and healthy. Grande and Gaga seem to have bonded over crying together in such a way it was a positive experience for both of them.

According to InStyle, Gaga recalled crying when Grande first came in the studio. Gaga didn’t want to spread negativity, so she felt ashamed being around Grande. However, Gaga says Grande worked to break down her barriers and become friends with her.

According to Billboard, Grande tweeted “One time ….. i met a woman who knew pain the same way i did… who cried as much as i did, drank as much wine as i did, ate as much pasta as i did and who’s heart was bigger than her whole body. she immediately felt like a sister to me.”

Discussing the same topics, Grande continued “She then held my hand and invited me into the beautiful world of chromatica and together, we got to express how beautiful and healing it feels to mothaf–kinnnn cry ! i hope this makes u all feel as uplifted as it does for us both. i love u @ladygaga, u stunning superwoman !”

According to Variety, Gaga went into more detail about working with Grande in an interview with Zane Lowe. Gaga told Lowe she never had a female artist mentor her when she was climbing the ladder in the music industry. However, she enjoyed being able to work with Grande and give her advice. She told Grande to never let anyone else get in the way of her own self-expression. Gaga’s message here is very reminiscent of the messages of freedom and individuality which she works into her own songs and videos.

Grande was nervous to sing with Gaga. However, Gaga gave her some encouragement. Gaga said the moments of the two of them working together was beautiful. Gaga loved seeing Grande do things with her voice she hadn’t done before.

Gaga told Grande “One time I felt like I was crying so much it would never stop. Instead of fighting it, I thought bring it on, I can do hard things. @arianagrande I love you for your strength and friendship. Let’s show them what we’ve got.” Many fans felt the two artist displayed their talents perfectly when they worked together.
