‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’: How a Hospital Smell Caused Drama for Jen Shah and Mary Cosby
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City has finally premiered in all its glory, and it didn’t disappoint. The wealth is substantial and the people are beautiful in this unique Real Housewives spinoff. There are six new housewives to get to know – Jen Shah, Heather Gay, Meredith Marks, Whitney Rose, Mary Cosby, and Lisa Barlow.
Two of the housewives – Jen and Mary – are already having some issues. Jen is a convert from Mormonism to Islam. She’s married to a university football coach, and she’s known for wearing designer outfits and throwing her famous parties.
Mary is a very unique member of the housewives. She’s a Pentecostal First Lady of her church, and she even married her step-grandfather, Robert Cosby Sr. Mary says it was like “an arranged marriage.”
The drama between them all has to do with a hospital smell. Don’t worry, we have all the details below.
How a hospital smell caused drama for Jen Shah and Mary Cosby
Although Jen and Mary were once good friends, things are rocky right now, and it has to do with a strange set of circumstances. It turns out Mary made a comment about a hospital smell after being greeted by Jen, which obviously has turned into something major. Mary wasn’t even sure if she’d be invited to a party Jen throws for Meredith in the premiere, but she gets invited anyway.
“So, Jen and I used to be good, until I said it smelled like hospital,” Mary tells producers. She relays the situation to Whitney, saying she has a “very sensitive smell for hospitals.” She mentions that it takes her to “a very dark place. I could smell it anywhere.”
It turns out the friends met up at a restaurant, and Jen came in and greeted Mary. Jen had found out that her aunt, who was in the hospital at the time, had to have her legs amputated. Mary apparently made a comment about a hospital smell during the evening, and it was relayed to Jen. “Mary knew what I was dealing with. For her to say those comments to me like, you’re just flat out being mean,” Jen says about the situation.
They talk about it at a party Jen throws, but it leads to more drama
At a party Jen throws for Meredith, she spots Mary on a couch, and she goes over and sits down next to her. Mary asks if they’re “good.” Jen says she wanted to ask her the same thing. Mary goes on to reveal that she had 12 surgeries to have her “odor glands removed.”
“The worst experience of my life, like dark, very dark,” Mary continues. “I mean they lost me twice.” She says she won’t go to the hospital now, even for a nose job.
Jen again explains what had happened with her aunt, and that when Mary mentioned the hospital smell, she was “being mean.” Mary asks who she said that to. Then Keri gets called over, who Jen said told her about what Mary said.
Mary asks Keri if she told Jen that she said she “smelled like hospital,” and Keri replies, “I absolutely did.” Keri says that Mary told her that, and Mary goes on to admit that she did say that. Mary says that Keri smelled like it too and that she smelled her then at the time.
“I just smelt hospital that’s all,” Mary tells Jen. “It wasn’t to be mean.”
Keri asks her what her “point” was, and Mary replies back, “Can you just be quiet?” The drama gets more heated, and Mary even tells her that she can “leave.” Jen replies that they aren’t going to be “disrespectful,” as they called Keri over.
“My aunt is like my mother who raised me,” Jen continues. Mary asks what she wants her to do, and Jen says, “Not say you smell like hospital when she gets both legs amputated.” She goes on to say it “hurt” her. Jen eventually gets up and walks away, clearly upset.
We’ll have to see how this drama all plays out. Will Jen and Mary be able to get through this? Hopefully, fans won’t have to wait too long to find out.
