The Reason Why BTS’ V Was Thinking of Jungkook While Recording ‘Magic Shop’
He may be the youngest member of BTS, but Jungkook is an inspiration for both BTS fans and other idols. When it came to recording the Love Yourself: Tear song, “Magic Shop,” V was thinking of the Golden Maknae for one particular heartwarming reason.
The BTS members discussed albums like ‘Love Yourself: Tear’
It’s been about 7 years since RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook debuted as BTS. In that time, they’ve written, produced, recorded, and performed a handful of record-breaking, chart-topping songs.
During a video interview with Pitchfork, these performers discussed their favorite albums and eras. A few of the songs off of each album stood out for the BTS members. When it came to Love Yourself: Tear, recording their song “Magic Shop” proved to be memorable for singers like V.
V took some inspiration from Jungkook for their song ‘Magic Shop’
Jin said that each of the members emotionally connects to the album their working on. For Love Yourself: Tear, their album released in conjunction with projects Love Yourself: Answer and Love Yourself Her, there were a lot of tears.
“I was on the makeup chair once and listening to Love Yourself: Tear,” Jungkook said, making a sad face. “I did cry, mid-session.”
One of the songs off of that album was released specifically for the BTS ARMY, “Magic Shop,” V took inspiration from another member of the K-pop group. During the interview, he shared that he was channeling Jungkook.
“Yeah, I remember, our producer asked, ‘Jungkook, anything going on in life that’s maybe giving you a tough time?’ And he said, ‘It’s hardest for me when the other guys are having a hard time,’” V said of the youngest member of BTS.
“I mean, what a phrase,” he continued. “And I thought about it a lot. So when I recorded ‘Magic Shop,’ I thought about Jungkook and felt what he must’ve.”
BTS released other songs like ‘We are Bulletproof: the Eternal’
‘Magic Shop’ isn’t the only song released by BTS with their ARMY in mind. “We are Bulletproof: the Eternal” is not only a song about the group’s 7-year friendship journey since their debut, but the relationship they’ve built with their fans.
During an interview with NME, BTS explained that they released their August 2020 single, “Dynamite” to spread “comfort and joy” among their fans. The group would’ve gone on their Map of the Soul World Tour earlier during 2020.
The “Dynamite” music video is now available on YouTube. Music by BTS, including their recently released album, Map of the Soul: 7, is available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major platforms.
