Reba McEntire Revealed Boyfriend Rex Linn Is ‘Very Into’ Her Music
Country star Reba McEntire and boyfriend Rex Linn found romance after decades of friendship that started on a movie set. She explained one thing that makes their unique relationship work is being fans of each other’s creative work. According to her, Linn is “very into” her music, and she’s “very into” his acting career.

Though McEntire and Linn didn’t become a couple until 2020, they met in 1991 on the set of The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw. Notably, McEntire’s friend and fellow country music legend Kenny Rogers starred in the movie with her, and Linn’s part was small.
She and Narvel Blackstock were married then, so there was no romance yet. But she remained friends with Linn, and the two reconnected occasionally. For instance, when his mother died in 1998, he received a memorable phone call from the country at his family home.
Then, they both worked on Young Sheldon and had dinner in early 2020, just before they isolated in separate states. When McEntire learned her mother had terminal bladder cancer, Linn offered his support, as she’d done for him when he lost his mother.
On her Living & Learning podcast, she said their texts turned into phone calls then. They started talking daily until they could see each other again.

Both Linn and McEntire agree their unique bond is special because they got to know each other romantically from a distance. But another benefit to their relationship is being “very into” each other’s work, McEntire explained on her podcast. It helps Linn is a fan of country music, specifically McEntire’s.
“It’s good to have a person to talk to, laugh with, get into subjects about what’s going on,” she said. “Discussions about our past, our family, funny stories, him being an actor, me being an actress. And he’s very into my music. I’m very into his career.”
Notably, Linn had parts in films like Rush Hour and Cliffhanger and shows like Nashville and Better Call Saul on television.“It’s just great getting to talk to somebody who I find very interesting, very funny, very smart and is interested in me, too,” she added.

During an interview with Good Morning America, McEntire said her relationship with Linn has been an inspiration in her music career.
“I’m in love, so that really inspires me to find love songs, to find happy songs,” she explained. “I’ve always been the queen of waltzes, the queen of sad songs, because I just gravitate to those kinds of songs.”
McEntire told TODAY they’ve been “pretty much inseparable since” they left isolation and even “giggled” about marriage. For now, he frequently joins her on red carpets, like at the 2022 Oscars ceremony where she performed.
