Vanessa ‘Miss Vanjie’ Matteo stole the show of the ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ season 11 finale

She’s loud, and she’s bitter. Miss Vanjie got her segment during the finale, protesting her elimination. The queen appeared on the mainstage, holding her face on a cardboard cutout and a petition signed by strangers on the street.

Fans saw the drag queen walking the streets, asking pedestrians (and dogs) to sign. After watching Vanjie’s effort to get her face on the wheel, RuPaul shrugged and announced Vanjie as the winner of season 11.

“For real?” Vanjie asked RuPaul.

“Hell no,” RuPaul responded.

Aquaria, the winner of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ season 10 slayed her finale look

She’s a phoenix rising from the ashes. Season 10 winner, Aquaria, returned to RuPaul’s Drag Race to crown “America’s Next Drag Superstar.” She came in hues of amber and amethyst, both arms covered in feathers.

Some fans compared Aquaria’s look to multiple RuPaul’s Drag Race runways of the past, including Sasha Belle’s season 7 runway look. Some also compared Aquaria’s hairstyle to Acid Betty’s and Aquaria’s makeup to Kim Chi’s.

Another fashion moment of the finale was by RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11 contestant, Shuga Cain. According to her Instagram, Shuga’s inspiration for her look “comes from the story of Juan Diego who was visited by the Virgin de Guadalupe on the hill of Tepeyac.”

Nina West won Miss Congeniality

Not-so-surprisingly, Nina West won Miss Congeniality, the award given by season 10’s Miss Congeniality, Monét X Change. The winner of this season’s Miss Congeniality was chosen by the contestants, instead of being selected by the fans.

Additionally, Nina West’s win comes after her recognition from celebrities like artist Rihanna, politician Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, and Pentatonix member Scott Hoying.

After receiving the crown, RuPaul asked if there was anything Nina West wanted to say. Nina replied with an unenthusiastic, “meh,” shading RuPaul’s response following her lip-sync against Silky Nutmeg Ganache.

Brooke Lynn Hytes and Yvie Oddly made the top two

RuPaul decided the top four during the last episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race — Akeria C. Davenport, Silky Nutmeg Ganache, Brooke Lynn Hytes, and Yvie Oddly. RuPaul spun the wheel and it landed on Silky Nutmeg Ganache. Silky chose to lipsync against Brooke Lynn Hytes to Destiny’s Child’s “Bootylicious.” Brooke Lynn Hytes won the lipsync.

The next pair was Yvie Oddly and Akeria C. Davenport, who lipsynced to Rihanna’s “S.O.S.” Yvie Oddly won, advancing to the top two. The top two, Yvie Oddly and Brooke Lynn Hytes, then lipsynced for the crown to Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory.” Yvie Oddly won the crown, the $100,000, and the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.”
