Ree Drummond: ‘Pioneer Woman’ Star Vows to Be a ‘Cool Granny’ After Sharing Daughter Alex’s Pregnancy News
The Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond has vowed to be a “cool granny ” after sharing her oldest daughter, Alex, is expecting her first baby. This will be the Food Network superstar’s first grandchild.
Ree Drummond will be a first-time grandma this winter
In an Instagram post dated June 23, 2024, Alex Drummond, Ree Drummond’s firstborn daughter, revealed she and husband Mauricio Scott are expecting their first child. The couple have been married since May 2021.
Alex and Mauricio shared a slideshow of five photographs debuting sonogram photos of the newest addition to their family. The couple beamed at each other as they showed off “Baby Scott,” who makes their debut this winter.
In the photo series’ caption, Alex wrote. “We can’t wait to meet you, little one. Baby Scott joining the party this winter! Thank you, Lord, for this precious gift.”
Ree shared her excitement at being a first-time grandma in a blog on her Pioneer Woman website. She joked she was “going to buy a bright red Trans-Am so I can be a young, awesome, and cool granny.”

The Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond subsequently published a blog post about Alex Drummond’s pregnancy. She couldn’t contain her happiness over this exciting new experience.
“I think I’ll let my perfect granddog George be the first to share. Check out his bandana,” Ree wrote. George, Alex and Mauricio’s golden retriever, donned a scarf with the message “big bro.”
“Oh my gosh. Alex is pregnant! My first baby is having her first baby. My child is going to have a child. It’s surreal, and I’m sure all of you grandparents can relate to the feeling of momentarily leaving your body upon hearing similar news,” Ree wrote.
She continued, “The baby is due around New Year’s Day. I don’t know how this is possible, considering I’m only 31 years old. How can I be a grandmother at 31?”
“I’m getting back on the rowing machine so I can be a cool, hip, and fit granny; I’m getting started back with Pilates so I can be a limber, stretchy, and strong granny. I’m going to buy a bright red Trans-Am so I can be a young, awesome, and cool granny. Just kidding on that last part.”

In the comments section of Alex Drummond’s post, Ree Drummond’s family and friends weighed in on the happy news. Alex was just 9 when The Pioneer Woman first aired, so fans watched her grow up on television.
Ree wrote, “Beyond happy for you two!! (And for the whole family!) Love you, Alex and Mauricio!”
Alex’s sister Paige penned, “So happy I could cry! Can’t wait to be an auntie!!! I love you guys so much.”
“We’re so excited and have been anxiously waiting for you to make your announcement. We love this little one so much already and can hardly wait to meet in a few months. I keep saying to your Papa Bill, ‘you’re going to be a Great Grandpa!’ We love you so much and are beyond happy for this precious blessing,” Ree’s stepmother Patsy wrote.
Mauricio’s mother, Martha Moreno, stated, “I’m very happy for you, Alex, and Mauricio. We are so blessed. I’m going to be a grandmother!”
In response, Ree wrote, “Grandmother Sisters!! We will take turns spoiling.”
