Calling all chocolate lovers. Ree Drummond’s Easy Chocolate Tart is as chocolatey as Pioneer Woman dessert recipes get. It has three — yes, three — layers of chocolate.

Drummond’s Easy Chocolate Tart begins the same way as any other tart recipe would, with the base layer or the crust. She demonstrated just how easy it is to make on the “Chocolate Appreciation Day” episode of Food Network’s The Pioneer Woman.

“It starts with a chocolate crust and I’m using chocolate sandwich cookies,” Drummond said as she put them in a food processor. “I’ll pulse them until they’re totally broken up.”

Then she slowly added melted butter to the food processor. Next, she transfers the mixture to a tart pan and uses a metal measuring cup to press it into the bottom.

That’s all there is to the crust. Drummond puts it in the freezer to set while she works on the other elements of the tart.

Simple continues to be the theme with the next step in Drummond’s Easy Chocolate Tart. “I’m going to make a simple ganache for the tart filling,” she said while filming in Pawhuska, Oklahoma

The Super Easy cookbook author uses a combination of bittersweet and milk chocolate for the smooth, creamy filling. She chops them up, puts them in a bowl, and pours a warm mixture of heavy cream and butter over the top.

“I’ll just slowly pour the hot cream and butter over the chocolate,” she said, noting that the idea is to “melt the chocolate almost instantly.”

She added: “You just want to keep stirring until you no longer see any separation of the cream and chocolate.”

Now that the crust is set Drummond puts the ganache on top for a “chocolate on chocolate” moment. Then the tart goes back in the fridge to set.

While the ganache layer cools in the fridge the topping for Drummond’s Easy Tart is made. The cooking show host simmers white chocolate in a bowl with coconut oil. Then she spreads it on a sheet pan in a thin layer.

The chocolate goes in the freezer for a few minutes just until it’s started to set. At that point, Drummond takes it out of the freezer and uses a spatula to scrape the chocolate and form curls. She arranges them on the top and her Easy Chocolate Tart is done.
