Ree Drummond’s ‘Incredible’ 25-Minute Creamy Shrimp and Gnocchi
Make a restaurant-worthy pasta dish with Ree Drummond’s creamy shrimp and gnocchi. One of many Pioneer Woman shrimp dishes, this one takes only 25 minutes to make.
Ree Drummond’s creamy shrimp and gnocchi combines shrimp and pasta with a cheesy, lemony sauce
Drummond’s creamy shrimp and gnocchi is just that, a creamy concoction of shrimp and gnocchi. Per the Pioneer Woman’s Food Network recipe instructions, she tosses the two in a savory sauce.
To start the Super Easy cookbook author deglazes a skillet with white wine being sure the scrape up all the bits on the bottom. Then she adds heavy cream to the pan, which happens to be one of her three can’t-cook-without ingredients.
After the heavy cream comes mascarpone cheese for even more richness followed by pesto, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Once it’s thickened after simmering for a few minutes Drummond continues on with the next steps in her creamy shrimp and gnocchi recipe. And 25 minutes later she has a creamy, lemony, cheesy shrimp pasta dish.
The Pioneer Woman uses gnocchi and shrimp shortcuts
Drummond often uses shortcuts in her dishes and this one is no exception. There are two shortcuts in Drummond’s shrimp and gnocchi recipe.
The first has to do with the shrimp. She doesn’t spend time thawing it out. Instead, Drummond pulls it straight out of the freezer. After all, the recipe is part of the “From the Freezer” episode of The Pioneer Woman.
As stated in the recipe instructions, the Food Network star rinses the shrimp to help separate them. A good shake to get rid of any excess water and they’re ready to go. So don’t worry about having to remember to unthaw them because it isn’t required.
In addition to using storebought frozen shrimp, Drummond uses storebought gnocchi — a shortcut she’s used before in a chorizo pasta dish — instead of making it from scratch.
