Reese Witherspoon Had a ‘Major Crush’ On This ‘Harry Potter’ Star With His Pics on Her Wall
As a typical teenage girl, even Reese Witherspoon had a handful of celebrity crushes whose photographs were lovingly clipped from shiny magazines and stuck up on the walls of her childhood bedroom. While Witherspoon may have made her way to fame and fortune, and now lives in the same circles as her former crushes, the actor never made moves on her biggest celebrity crush. In fact, she’s certain that Johnny Depp never knew he made the list as her top teenage heartthrob after his role in the 21 Jump Street series.
A young Reese Witherspoon had a celebrity crush
In Reese’s very first interview with MTV, the young star admitted she had a huge crush on Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald actor Johnny Depp. In fact, it was so consuming that she had plastered her bedroom walls with cutouts of his photos.
When asked about who her biggest crush would be the young Witherspoon was quick to confess to MTV: “I have to say probably Johnny Depp in ’21 Jump Street.'”
She admitted: “I just had a really major crush on him. I used to pull pictures out of Teen Beat and put them on my wall.”
Now, the star laughs about her childhood crushes acknowledging that Depp, who played Grindelwald in the Harry Potter prequel film, has likely heard it all before. While she never acted on her crush, adult Witherspoon still lists Depp as one of her earliest memorable crushes alongside a few swoon-worthy musicians.
Reese Witherspoon is married
Witherspoon was married to her first husband, Ryan Phillippe, for nearly 10 years. The couple wed in 1999, and they share two children: Ava and Deacon.
When their marriage dissolved in 2007, America’s sweetheart Witherspoon was quick to bounce back. Afterward, according to People, she dated Jake Gyllenhaal, who she met in Morocco on the set of the movie Rendition in 2006.
After that relationship ended, Witherspoon decided to try her hand at dating someone who was not a celebrity. That’s when she met talent agent Jim Toth.
According to Good Housekeeping, Toth was exactly what Witherspoon needed in her life. He was a talent agent who represented big-name artists, so they ran in the same circles but didn’t have the same responsibilities. The couple dated for a year before Toth proposed. Soon after they tied the knot Witherspoon welcomed her third child, a son, Tennessee.
Witherspoon and Toth are celebrating nearly a decade of marriage this year.
Johnny Depp’s love life is not the fairytale
Depp has recently been surrounded by controversy and heartache as a result of a messy divorce and domestic abuse accusations filed by his ex-wife Amber Heard. The scandal is far from the happily-ever-after that Witherspoon’s teenage self might have imagined.
In fact, according to MSN, the accusations threaten to negatively impact Depp’s longtime acting career as well as the reputation of the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
Currently, OK Magazine reports that Depp is involved with supermodel Sophie Hermann. This wouldn’t be the first time Depp has had a relationship with a model though, he reportedly dated Kate Moss for four years starting in 1994.
In fact, according to Vulture, Depp has a long list of former lovers to include co-star Keira Knightley and Angelina Jolie though those relationships were never made public. He’s been forced to release information about his relationships with everyone he’s been with within the last 10 years as part of the defamation lawsuits surrounding his divorce.
