Regé-Jean Page Reveals How He Felt Watching His ‘Bridgerton’ Sex Scenes
Regé-Jean Page opened up about how people in his personal life reacted to his sex scenes. Now the Bridgerton actor is revealing how he felt watching them himself and whether he was prepared.
Regé-Jean Page’s family teased him about his ‘Bridgerton’ sex scenes
The first season of Bridgerton focused on the love story between Simon Basset (Page) and Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor). They eventually get married, and their sex life becomes a big source of their problems. There were multiple sex scenes between their characters to show that.
Page said his family had a clear way to warn each other about the steamy scenes. “We’ve got a family WhatsApp group, so there’s a couple flashing red light emojis and there’s the odd peach emoji — certain people have threatened to rate my peach,” the actor said on The Graham Norton Show.
But there were a few family members that were left out of the group. “I got a very stern message in my Instagram DMs oddly enough just going there really needs to be a cousin warning,” Page said.
The actor said his cousin even left the room to make tea to avoid the sex scene, but it was still happening when the person came back. Page revealed he didn’t have an easier time watching the scenes himself.

The actor talked about his more revealing scenes with The Hollywood Reporter. He was asked if warning his family about his sex scenes helped them prepare to see it.
“No one was sufficiently prepared. I wasn’t sufficiently prepared, and I was there,” he answered, laughing. “I think people were grateful for the intensity of the romantic aspects of Bridgerton; I’m not sure how grateful I was to watch it for myself. It was overwhelming.”
He then continued, “But I think people were looking to be overwhelmed. My family doesn’t want to be overwhelmed by my backside, specifically, too often, but they’ll take it on this occasion because everyone seems to be terribly happy.”
Will he be back for ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2?
Page won’t be returning to play the duke. He gave his reason to Variety on why he decided to pursue other roles.
“It’s a one-season arc. It’s going to have a beginning, middle, end—give us a year,” Page said. “[I thought] ‘That’s interesting,’ because then it felt like a limited series. I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit, and then the Bridgerton family rolls on.”
Page will be in a movie called Dungeons & Dragons. He’s also filming for a movie called The Gray Man. Dynevor will be back for season 2, so fans might still hear about Daphne and Simon’s marriage.
