Reginae Carter Opens up About On-and-Off Boyfriend YFN Lucci’s Arrest in Connection With Murder
Rapper YFN Lucci is facing some serious charges in connection with an Atlanta fatal shooting. On social media, his on-and-off-girlfriend, Reginae Carter, who is the daughter of Toya Johnson and Lil Wayne, has given an update about him.
Reginae Carter and YFN Lucci’s relationship
The two were romantically linked for a couple of years. Their relationship got a lot of attention because Carter is the daughter of Lil Wayne, as well as the fact that there was a big age gap between them. Fans were concerned that YFN Lucci also had kids before getting in a relationship with Carter.
It was reported that they broke up August 2019, but rumors continued that they were on and off. Carter confirmed on her series, T.I. and Tiny: The Friends and Family Hustle, that they were done.
“To hear my daddy tell me that Lucci, he loves you probably, but he’s not in love with you because of the actions and the things that he’s doing,” she said on the show. “My father told me that sometimes when people don’t know love themselves, they can’t love other people, and you can’t blame them for that. Sometimes people just don’t know how to love. Lil Wayne! He made the song! ‘How to Love.’”
Still, especially during the later months in 2020, it looked like Carter and YFN Lucci remained in contact and could be together. It was said they officially got back together in December 2020.
YFN Lucci was arrested in connection with a murder
News came out last week that YFN Lucci was wanted on a charge related to a recent murder. Later, it was revealed what actually went down, according to police.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that YFN Lucci was “was behind the wheel of the car used in a gang-related drive-by shooting that left one of his passengers dead.” The shooting happened last month in southwest Atlanta. YFN Lucci turned himself in one day after police announced that they were looking for him. Before turning himself in, he posted his new music video on his social media pages
The arrest warrant states that the rapper and “three other criminal street gang members drove to an area dominated by a rival gang before two people in the car opened fire with assault-style rifles.” One of the men was hit in the head bu return gunfire and died.
Despite the charges, YFN Lucci’s attorney, Drew Findling, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “Our review of the initial evidence made available to us indicates there is no basis for any criminal charges against Rayshawn Bennett. We will continue our own independent investigation on his behalf.”
The rapper is facing four charges, including “murder, aggravated assault, participating in criminal street gang activity and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.”

On her Instagram story, Carter gave an update on what’s going on with YFN Lucci.
As reported by The Jasmine Brand, she wrote, “Hey Guys! Ray wants you all to know he’s in good spirits and doing well. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes… He’ll be home soon.”
Even though their relationship status is mostly unclear, one thing is for sure ― Carter is sticking behind him at this time.
