Will There Be a Reunion Episode for ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 12?
The girls are making the best out of a pretty unfortunate situation. Season 12 is drawing to a close, leaving some fans wondering whether or not there will be the iconic (and drama-filled) reunion episode. Here’s what we know about a video-chat reunion and, potentially, a virtual season finale for RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Nicky Doll might’ve teased that a season 12 reunion is coming
There’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding the rest of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12, thanks to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Thanks to a post from Nicky Doll, some fans think that a virtual season 12 reunion is very likely.
According to Metro, the drag performer posted a picture of herself video chatting with the other contestants. Some viewers were quick to comment, asking if this was an accidental leak from the reunion. Neither RuPaul or the contestant has come forward regarding the response.
Distractify reports, however, that fans have mixed opinions regarding a virtual reunion, as it doesn’t exactly stir up the same drama as the usual reunion would. In the past, this episode featured the crowning of Miss Congeniality and even a mini ”reading” challenge. There’s even more uncertainty surrounding the season 12 finale.
Will there be a live finale for season 12?
The same goes for the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12. This episode is typically filmed in front of an audience, with RuPaul there to make her final decision regarding the winner of the reality competition series. That will have to change due to the restrictions and safety precautions still in place.
During one interview, Drag Race judge Ross Matthews briefly commented on the upcoming episode. He shared his thoughts regarding the season 12 queens and who will walk away with the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.”
“It’s one of my favorite seasons because the queens are so solid,” Ross Matthews said, according to We Are Channel Q. However, this judge did not spill any tea regarding the upcoming season 12 finale. “The right queen will get the crown… and there have been some rumblings around filming the finale in quarantine.”
‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ season 12 has been nicknamed the ‘cursed season’
This wouldn’t be the first time that something went wrong for the drag queens of season 12. One contestant, who still appears throughout the season, has been disqualified as a result of catfishing allegations. Some live performances have been rescheduled or canceled altogether, as a result of the pandemic and stay-at-home orders.
More than anything, fans just want this experience to be fair for the performers. Or at least as fair as possible, given the circumstances. More information regarding the reunion episode will be announced in the coming weeks, as there are only a few episodes left until viewers reach the top four. Until then, fans can watch already released episodes on VH1.com.
