‘RHOA’: Cynthia Bailey Checks Wendy Williams For Comment About Daughter Noelle
Fans are watching Cynthia Bailey on the current season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta as she goes back and forth about her wedding.
But one area where she won’t compromise is defending daughter Noelle Robinson. Bailey recently appeared as a guest on The Wendy Williams Show and took a moment to set things straight about her daughter’s announcement about her sexuality.
Cynthia Bailey’s daughter came out as sexually fluid
In season 12 of RHOA, the then-20-year-old Robinson spoke to her mom about exploring her sexuality in college. She came out and shared that she’s sexually fluid and is interested in both men and women.
“People try to box everyone in and put labels on everything, but I don’t really do that,” she explained to Bailey. “I just like who I like, and that’s just what it is. There’s a lot of attractive guys, and there’s a lot of attractive girls,” said Robinson.
Bailey expressed her love and support, and viewers watched the pair take a trip to New York to celebrate at the World Pride Parade with other Bravo stars.
Off camera, Robinson shared photos on social media of her girlfriend. The couple broke up in 2020, but the topic of Robinson’s love life came up on Williams’ show.
Bailey checks Wendy Williams about Noelle
During her virtual visit to Williams’ show, Bailey chatted about her wedding to Mike Hill, RHOA, the lawsuit against ex Peter Thomas, and her daughter. Bailey said that she was nervous about coming on because she knew Williams had strong opinions about her pandemic wedding, but they kept things upbeat.
When the conversation pivoted to Robinson’s coming out, Williams implied that it’d be a better storyline than Bailey’s marriage. “You needed a more interesting storyline than the happy married lady,” she said.
Bailey cut her off. “Listen. Honestly, Noelle is not a housewife. She’s not a peach-holder. Noelle does not have to actually share her life with you guys,” she said. Williams attempted to change the subject, but Bailey steered it back.
She explained that because they’re a reality TV family, it was necessary to talk about her daughter’s dating life on the show to prevent assumptions in the media.
“If we don’t talk about it on the show and people find out about it, they almost feel like we’re hiding it. And I didn’t want Noelle to feel ashamed or embarrassed or have to hide her truth,” said Bailey.
She added that she didn’t want it to pop up in the blogs as if Noelle was “creeping” with some girl. “I wanted her to tell her own story. It wasn’t for my storyline — it’s because she needed to get in front of it,” emphasized Bailey. She made it clear it wasn’t for the RHOA plot.
Bailey and Williams ended on a high note
Though Williams had a few more questions about Robinson’s romantic life, they finished up their chat by discussing new RHOA addition Drew Sidora. Bailey likes her, Williams likes her, and fans will just have to wait and see how things pan out among the ladies this season.
Watch the next episode of the show on Sunday at 8 p.m. EST.
