‘RHOA’: Nene Leakes Breaks Silence on Claims Her ‘Reads’ Were Scripted
Nene Leakes is the most recognizable star of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The last-remaining OG of the show was on fire during the first two parts of the RHOA virtual reunion. As a veteran on the Bravo reality series, Leakes knows how to handle and defend herself from attacks. She read some of her co-stars so well that they thought she was scripted. After the claims, Leakes is finally revealing if it’s true or not.
Nene Leakes clarifies her reads
After the first part of the RHOA reunion aired, fans were quick to notice Leakes’ epic “reads.” Many took to Twitter to shade the Glee alum. Leakes must’ve gotten a lot of “hate” that she tweeted about the issue.
“Yes, my reads are written down and rehearsed,” she tweeted. “Remember, I’m elderly, menopausal, and have no fu**in memory. In my younger days, I sat on [the] couch and read you bit***s from the top of my wig and have the most iconic reads to date.”
Leakes’ response included attacks she received from some of her co-stars during the virtual meetup.
Nene Leakes admits to writing things down
When Leakes left the reunion, she left her camera on and there was a piece of paper with notes. This is why fans believed that the Fashion Police alum hired someone to write for her one-liners.
Leakes compared her notes to those of Andy Cohen that help him guide the show and make sure he gets certain points across.
“For me, it’s just like Andy [Cohen], he has all of his questions written down and I wanted to not forget to ask questions,” Leakes told ET. “So, it’s not about reading. It was about, I didn’t want to forget to ask certain questions because a lot of times, when I’m with these girls and then I leave, I’m like, dang! I forgot to say that. Oh, I wish I would have said this, or I wish I’d had asked that question.”
Leakes said that no one can ever say her reads were not as she has “read everybody from the top of [her] wig.”
“I have iconic one-liners that are out there, and I didn’t even try to make it anything, it just became something big,” she added. “The list goes on and on, honey. Girl, bye. The thirst is real. I’m very rich, b***h. Bloop. Close your legs to married men, trash box. I mean, I can go on and on. The door is closed. On and on and on, I’ve said all those things off the top of my wig.”
Nene Leakes didn’t read Yovanna Momplaisir
One person that Leakes didn’t read during the reunion was Yovanna Momplaisir. Leakes left before Momplaisir joined the video conference. Both had been friends during the show but ended up having a fallout.
Momplaisir accused Leakes of telling her to record the ladies to come back and snitch on them. The former didn’t end up doing it and Leakes said she’s just “thirsty” to be on camera.
“I feel sorry for her,” Leakes told ET. “She will never be a castmate over here and that’s so sad, because she has been used and abused. Bye, girl! She should feel very used. I can’t imagine Bravo hiring her to do anything. If so, they dropped down 10 levels.”
