‘RHOA’: Nene Leakes Reacts to Wendy Williams Shade
Nene Leakes is not one to stay mum. Shortly after Wendy Williams shaded The Real Housewives of Atlanta star for “ambushing” her with a call, the “tastiest peach reacted. Although Leakes didn’t respond directly many fans interpreted a cryptic message she posted on Instagram as a clap back.
Why are Nene Leakes and Wendy Williams feuding?
Williams returned to her talk show after a brief hiatus due to coronavirus pandemic. The TV host talked about RHOA and recalled an incident with Leakes that happened last Friday, April 3.
“On Friday evening I was in the house minding my own business … my phone rings shortly after 10 o’clock and it’s Nene… I said, ‘Hi Nene, why are you screaming? Why are we on speakerphone, your house is big enough? What’re you doing?’” Williams shared. “She [NeNe] said, ‘Girl.’ I said, ‘Yes Nene, why are you talking so loud?’ She said, ‘I’m here with all my people…’”
The former radio personality was not happy that Leakes called her randomly and put her on the spot. She made it clear that she does not like to FaceTime.
“You know I don’t have face or time for FaceTime, period,” Williams added. “If I don’t do it for my own parents of the show, why would I be doing it for someone over there. I like NeNe, but she’s still an over-there person to me!”
Leakes had been broadcasting live on Instagram when she called Williams but the latter was reluctant to be part of her video.
“Honestly, here’s where the ambush comes in. She said, ‘Wendy, look’ — she was in hair and makeup and wardrobe with all her people — she said, ‘We filming and I want you to be on the speaker.’ I said, ‘NeNe, I did that for you one time.’ Remember my appearance? One time! I made it very clear, I am not a Housewife. Sorry, my career is a bit … different … than being a Housewife. I don’t need that kind of attention.”
Nene Leakes claps back
After Williams made the revelation on her talk show, Leakes posted a cryptic message on Instagram. Although she doesn’t name the TV host, her fans interpreted this as her response to Williams.
“Public disrespect and private apologies don’t mix,” Leakes posted.
It’s not entirely evident if maybe Williams called her after her show to apologize and Leakes was upset because it went public.
On another Instagram Live, fans wanted Leakes to spill the tea on her nascent feud with Williams. However, the RHOA star put a stop to fan requests and shut it down.
“If you’re going to ask me anything about Wendy, please refrain from doing so,” she told fans. “I will not answer any questions concerning Wendy. I will not answer any questions once again about Wendy, and for the third time, I will not answer any questions about Wendy. I’m not that kind of friend, I’ve never been that kind of friend despite what you might think.”
“Any questions I may have I will send them to her, I wish she could’ve done the same,” she added. “I’m always loyal, I will always be loyal. I’m not a snitch. I’ll never be one. I am not going to hash out a friendship over social media.”
