‘RHOA’: What Cynthia Bailey Is Looking To Address At The Reunion
Real Housewives of Atlanta’s reunion has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak but the episodes of season 12 are still airing. As fans wait for the new reunion taping date, Cynthia Bailey has kept busy doing press during the nationwide shutdown.
Bailey has always maintained that she enjoys filming the reunion specials because it provides the opportunity for closure. One situation she hopes to get clarity on is “snake-gate,” which involved friend to the show, Yovanna Momplaisir.
A recap of ‘RHOA’s’ snake-gate
After Leakes and Bailey’s fallout during the reunion special of RHOA, the relationship between the two longtime frenemies remained fractured. They did not film together for several episodes at the beginning of the season and focused on strengthening their friendships with other cast members.
During a chat between Leakes, Marlo Hampton, and Momplaisir, Momplasir revealed to the two women that she met with Bailey and had a recording of their conversation – in which Bailey allegedly trash-talked Leakes. Leakes never actually heard the audio, but she relayed the information to the rest of the cast.
Things came to a head during a cast trip in Toronto when all of the cast members pushed Leakes to reveal the source. Kenya Moore and Porsha Williams immediately felt that Momplaisir was the culprit, but Momplasair continued to deny any involvement. Bailey did not receive confirmation that Momplaisair was the “snake” until she watched the episodes in real-time.
Why Cynthia Bailey hopes to clear up snake-gate
During her interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bailey explained that she is looking forward to the reunion, specifically to address snake-gate. She was particularly offended that Momplaisir would record her without her knowledge or consent as she felt it was a shady act.
Furthermore, Bailey did not deny that she had a conversation with Momplaisir about Leakes but insists that it was taken out of context and that the content of the conversation was exaggerated.
“That whole theory put out the perception of that I was doing something bad to my friend that I wasn’t doing,” she said. “When we were friends, I never said anything, it was always praise, if anything…For somebody to imply that I’m somebody that I’m not…I’m not perfect so if you’re coming for me then, of course, I’m going to respond as well.”
Cynthia Bailey also wants to confront cast members who question her friendship with Kenya Moore
Another hot topic this season has been Leakes, and some RHOA viewers, perception that Moore is not a good friend to Bailey. Moore caught a lot of flack for making snide remarks toward Bailey’s wine business and she was also accused of trying to ruin Bailey’s surprise engagement. Though Bailey does not agree with some of Moore’s actions, she says that Moore is the definition of a loyal and good friend.
“There’s a lot of things that Kenya does outside of the show that has proven her friendship to me,” Bailey said. “One thing you will not ever see Kenya Moore do is attack me in the press. That’s not what Kenya does. Some other people do it, but that’s not what Kenya does.”
Unlike Bailey’s observation of Moore, Leakes has made several negative remarks about Bailey in interviews, which Bailey days differs between the two friendships.
