‘RHOBH’: Kathryn Edwards Says She Never Shaded Garcelle Beauvais, Slams Report
Kathryn Edwards from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills slammed a recent report that indicated she made shady remarks about Garcelle Beauvais. Edwards set the record straight, sharing that some of the comments she’s made were taken out of context and spun.
Kathryn Edwards said she did not throw shade at Garcelle Beauvais
Edwards reflected on a recent interview she did on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast. She said some remarks she made about Beauvais were spun in a hurtful way. She returned to the podcast to clarify what she meant.
“I mean, everything’s been great and, you know, whatever. I mean, people are entitled to their opinions, just the same as you and I are. But the one thing that chapped my hide a little bit was that the context of our discussion about Garcelle and [Lisa] Rinna, when Garcelle said that she had heard that Rinna said that, you know, she didn’t want to have any type of race discussions on the show,” Edwards recounted on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast. “It wasn’t that kind of show.”
Edwards said a publication spun her comments to make it look like shade. “I did not shade Garcelle in any way, shape, or form,” Edwards insisted. “All I said was is that I didn’t know if Rinna said it.”
“I believe that someone told Garcelle that. I just didn’t know if I believe that whomever, it was that told Garcelle was telling the truth or was repeating it,” she added. “You don’t know.”
She said her remarks were taken out of context
She added, “But I was saying in the moment for me, I don’t think that that’s something that Rinna is – I don’t think she’s a person that would say those things. But I think in the context of it, it was brought to my attention. And I heard that Garcelle is definitely entitled to have those feelings. And I think if I were her and I didn’t look at it when I made the comment, just that, I didn’t know that it was true if I didn’t look at it through the lens of Garcelle. If I had heard something like that, how I would feel about it and how I would want to question it and why she waited until the reunion to bring it up because she didn’t want that to be her storyline.”
Edwards wanted to clarify the report. “So [the writer] said that I shaded Garcelle and that is not true,” she stated. “Not true, there was no shading going on. And I also didn’t say that I also came to a physical … like ready to go fisticuffs with Erika [Jayne].”
Kathryn Edwards hopes for less sensational reporting
While she wanted to clarify her statements, she understands that sensational headlines drive reads. “So I’m all for everyone to put a little caption out there to get people to look at it,” she said.
“But just keep it in the perimeters,” she added. “Because right now I feel like there’s so much divisive stuff that’s reported and you don’t need to do it. This is just, you know, this is a reality show that happens to be not right now because of what we’re talking about. It is real life and it’s serious. But in regards to those things, just, I mean, come on really.”
