‘RHOC’: Andy Cohen Pens Farewell Note to Vicki Gunvalson After ‘Housewives’ Exit
Vicki Gunvalson announced she was exiting The Real Housewives of Orange County after 14 years. The OG of the OC will not be appearing on the Bravo show anymore following a year after she was demoted to a friend. Gunvalson had already threatened to leave the series if she was not given an orange for season 15. As the insurance maven broke the news to her fans, Andy Cohen penned a farewell note to Gunvalson.
“I remember the first reunion I did with Vicki Gunvalson. Occasionally our eyes would meet as I grilled the other women, and she would wink at me optimistically and effervescently as both of her deep dimples shone,” Cohen wrote on Instagram. “She kept winking at me Year after year, and it always made my heart smile. Vicki is an original, who remained her authentic self from her Family Van-freakout through her last reunion.”
Cohen shared the heart-felt words on Instagram along with a photo from the past.
“It’s so hard to remain exactly who you are after being on television for so long, but Vicki is one of a kind,” he added. “Thank you for everything, Vicki Gunvalson – what a ride. And it’s not over. (This pic is actually from the Season 3 Reunion, and I always really liked it..).”
Vicki Gunvalson confirms she’s leaving ‘RHOC’
Gunvalson surprised fans when she posted on Instagram that she was leaving RHOC, something that was being speculated for weeks.
“I will always be the OG of the OC, but it’s time to say goodbye to The Real Housewives of Orange County,” Gunvalson wrote on Instagram. “It’s been an incredible ride for 14 years and I want [to] thank all of you for your support, for your love and for ‘whooping it up’ with me along the way.”
The reality star also shared that fans would be able to listen to her soon in a podcast she’s releasing in the coming months.
“I’ve been working on new projects that will be exciting, empowering and inspirational,” she continued. “My podcast with Westwood One will be launching soon and I will have much more to say about this on Whoop it up with Vicki. I hope you will join me on my new journey, so please stay tuned. I love all my fans, and I want to thank Bravo and Evolution for this incredible experience which my family and I have will never forget.”
Vicki Gunvalson felt disrespected
Gunvalson had been demoted to a “friend of” role for season 14. The TV personality felt disrespected as she felt she had given a lot to the show and the network over the years.
“First of all, when they told me I was going to have a reduced role, I said, ‘I’m never a Friend. I started this franchise. I’m never going to be a Friend.’ They said, ‘We’ll never use those words.’ And they’ve been using those words,” Gunvalson told Entertainment Tonight. “I will never come back part-time. I’m either all in or all out. I’m not a part-time girl.”
Production for season 15 of RHOC has reportedly already begun and more changes are coming soon.
