Heather Dubrow’s son Nick from The Real Housewives of Orange County endured the heart-stopping moment many high school seniors encounter – finding out if he got into his first-choice college.

Heather shared the video that captured the family’s reaction as Nick sat in front of the computer, filled with nerves, waiting for that click to tell him what the future held. The moment turned out to be a viral video, as Nick’s worried face quickly changed, awash with glee and excitement as he and his family cheered his acceptance to Loyola Marymount University.

Heather Dubrow from ‘RHOC’ said they were surprised he got the college decision so early

Heather recently relived the moment with Showbiz Cheat Sheet, sharing that the idea to record it was last minute. “He was scared,” Heather recalled of how her son felt in the moment. “So they [Nick and twin sister Max] each applied to one school early decision. So that’s binding. And you know, you put all your eggs in this big basket. And so we thought that they were going to find out around mid-December, that was kind of when everyone was told.”

“So I happened to be driving back to the house and I was like pulling in the driveway,” she continued. “And Max is calling me and she’s like, ‘Mom, where are you? Nicky just got an update to his application. Where are you? Where are you?’ I’m like, ‘I’m coming! I’m coming!’ Ran up the stairs and I’m like, OK.”

“And then we had talked about filming it, and Nicky didn’t know that was a thing until like a few weeks ago,” she added. “He was like, OK, OK, OK. And then oh my God, he was so nervous. I actually edited that because it took a few minutes for him to wanna open it. And so what happens is when you click the button, if you get in, you see confetti. Yeah, and it’s just the sweetest thing.” She shared the video on Instagram capturing their raw reaction.

No one in the family bought merch – because they didn’t want to jinx it

Heather said her twins have been researching schools and applications … and she laughed because it reminded her of how she felt when she was pregnant. “And you know what it reminds me of? I remember when I was pregnant with the twins. There was a show on TV called A Baby Story,” she said.

“So I’m pregnant,” she recalled. “So, you know, like, it’s what you’re into at the time because you’re pregnant. It’s like when you’re getting married. You read bridal magazines. So I’m pregnant and I’m at home all day watching A Baby Story and crying. I mean, I honestly could have like done my own C-section by the time I was done watching that series.”

“So the twins have been watching college acceptance videos,” she exclaimed. “And what’s so funny is I remember when Vanessa Bryant’s daughter got into USC. I was watching the video. And she had all these balloons and everything, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I just can’t.’ Like, what if they don’t get in? I’d be so nervous … so I did nothing. I don’t want to jinx anything. I haven’t bought a piece of merch. But what was also funny was he didn’t buy merch to the school he got into because he didn’t want to jinx it. Max did buy merch to her first choice because she said she’s manifesting.”

Heather Dubrow is happy as long as her children are happy

And while Max waits to find out where she ends up going to college, Heather said she just wants her kids to be happy. “You know, I don’t care where they go, honestly. They’ll get into the school that’s right for them,” she said.

“And they’ll get into plenty of schools,” Heather continued. “But I only care because obviously, you know, as a mother, it’s where they want to go. But I have told them, like, look, if that doesn’t work out, it’s alright. You’ll go to the right spot. It’ll turn out to be perfect.”
