‘RHOC’: Noella Bergener Still Doesn’t Know Why James Left Her – but Admits She ‘Lost Herself’
Noella Bergener from The Real Housewives of Orange County revealed that she still doesn’t know why her husband James Bergener left her.
She said he still says he loves her, but Noella has yet to get specific or firm answers as to why he left. But Noella said she realized she “lost herself” in the marriage now that she has some distance.

Noella appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen when she addressed her marriage. A fan asked during the After Show if she could spot the red flags in her marriage now with clear eyes. “So I still have no idea why he left,” she admitted. “He still hasn’t given me an explanation. He’ll still say he loves me. So that’s very confusing to me.”
“But on my part, I understand now that I really lost myself,” she added. “And I stopped my self-love and self-care some time ago. So working through building that up. But yeah, if I was the woman that I am today, I probably would have not stayed in this marriage as long as I did.”
She’s currently ‘squatting’ in her mansion because her finances are cut off
RHOC viewers watched as Noella sobbed about James’ sudden departure. But also that he cut her off from all finances. She recently shared that nothing has changed and she still has no access to her money.
“Everything’s exactly the same. He cut off my credit cards [and they] have not been turned back on. I have access to one singular credit card,” she told US Weekly. “It’s a number that’s through Instacart at Amazon. We’re just buying everything we can through Amazon, like stocking up on, like, a year’s worth of diapers.”
She added, “He could shut it off at any moment. Then I literally would have to look at some serious options. There’s been no changes in the finances. He’s not paid rent,” Noella asserted. “We’re currently squatting in our 10,000 square foot mansion, which is very eerie.”
The experience is life changing personally and financially
Noella added that she’s never been in extreme financial dire straits like this. “I hate this,” she continued in her interview with US Weekly. “I’ve never gone my life without paying a bill. So to feel like I’m just constantly apologizing to our property manager — and they have been so amazing and very understanding. But I understand we have an obligation and that he’s run from them is icky.”
She is waiting to work through her divorce settlement but wanted to clarify that she’s ready to work. “I’m ready to provide for my family and I don’t wanna ever be in this position ever again where I’m financially relying on any man. I learned a lot,” she said.
Noella recently credited RHOC and fans for moving the needle in her divorce. “If you read nothing else just know for the first time in months there is forward movement in my divorce,” she shared on Instagram. “The episodes, but more importantly, your comments are doing more in 3 weeks than lawyers and courts in months.”
