‘RHOC’: Shannon Beador Says Co-Parenting With Ex-David Still Tense – Hangs up on Kids if He Hears Her Voice
Shannon Beador from The Real Housewives of Orange County said co-parenting with ex-husband David hasn’t gotten any better and he still refuses to communicate with her.
She opened up about their strained relationship on the What What Happens Live with Andy Cohen After Show, sharing that David will actually hang up the phone on her children if he hears her voice in the background.

Shannon was asked to give newcomer Noella Bergener advice on how to navigate her divorce in the public eye. That’s when WWHL host, Andy Cohen asked about her relationship with David. “We still don’t have one,” she exclaimed. “I’ll get in trouble for this, but if he’s on the phone with my daughters and hears my voice he hangs up the phone.”
“He will not return a text,” she continued. “It’s unbelievable.” Cohen pointed out that Shannon and David share three children they need to co-parent. Adding, “It’s not like you’re trying to get him back. The divorce is settled.”
“We’ve both moved on with our lives,” Shannon replied. Cohen said Shannon has new boyfriend John Janssen – who owns a boat.
She had a vulnerable moment about the divorce on ‘RHOC’
Shannon had a vulnerable moment about the split during a recent episode of RHOC. During a trip to see her family in Tennessee, her mother noted how much stronger she was since her last visit, which was when she was in the middle of the divorce. “From the last time, you were out here,” Shannon’s mother said. “You’ve gone through a miserable divorce. You’ve done such a good job.”
Shannon then turned to her children. “I feel bad, and I worry about you guys, you were exposed to an unhealthy marriage,” she said.
“I know that my kids are still carrying everything that continues to happen with my marriage to David,” Shannon said in a confessional. Adding, “It weighs on them.”
Shannon says David rejected her baby gift
Shannon and David were married for 17 years but almost three years after their split, she said David still won’t speak to her. “Two in a half years in, it’s just flippin’ awkward,” she told People. “He won’t communicate with me and co-parent.”
David addressed Shannon’s remark with, “In the best interest of my children, I have no comment.” Shannon said she tried to introduced David and John, but it never happened.
David remarried and he and his wife recently had a baby. Shannon recounted how her daughters brought the baby a gift from her and David rejected it. “The girls said, ‘Mom got you a gift,’” Shannon said on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live (via Page Six). “And David said, ‘That’s nice.’ And she said, ‘I don’t want it.’”
“I didn’t want to go over the top. I wanted to be thoughtful,” Shannon added. “So I bought a Madeline doll and three of the hardback books, and I said, ‘Congratulations on the birth of your child.’”
David’s wife Lesly Cooke later shared on social media (via Page Six), “I declined a gift like my husband wrote you a check for $1,400,00.00 like you claimed on an episode.” She added, “This seems to be a Lifetime movie in the making. The horrible things I could share about you & I choose not to. Please stop harassing me on your platforms.”
