‘RHOC’ Star Kelly Dodd’s Ex Reportedly Gunning For Full Custody Amid All Of Her Coronavirus Drama
Real Housewives of Orange County star Kelly Dodd’s ex-husband, Michael Dodd, is doing everything in his power to gain full custody of their daughter, Jolie, inside sources claim. Kelly has been dealing with major backlash over her comments and actions about the coronavirus pandemic, and her frequent visits to New York City to see her fiancé, Rick Leventhal, have not helped the situation. While Kelly is doing her best to get her public image back on track, Michael is gunning for full custody.
Inside Kelly Dodd’s coronavirus drama
Back in March, Kelly found herself in the hot seat with RHOC fans after she visited her fiancé in NYC. The Big Apple has been a major hotspot for the coronavirus and fans thought that Kelly was making unnecessary risks visiting Leventhal in the city.
But one of Kelly’s biggest missteps in recent weeks came after she posted a string of videos on social media about the coronavirus pandemic. Taking to Instagram, Kelly recently compared the current crisis to the flu, telling her followers, “But how many people die on a daily basis? … Well, people are going to die! I’m sorry to tell ya.”
Several of Kelly’s former RHOC co-stars did not appreciate her comments about the pandemic. Tamra Judge said that Kelly’s comments were “unbelievable” while Vicki Gunvalson simply wrote “wow” in response to the clip.
A few weeks ago, Kelly told fans that the coronavirus pandemic was just “God’s way of thinning the herd.” The comments sparked some serious backlash for the reality star, who is now facing the possibility of losing custody of Jolie.
Michael Dodd reportedly wants full custody
Amid Kelly’s coronavirus drama, a source claims that Michael is concerned about the safety of his daughter. The insider told All About The Tea that Michael is in discussions with his lawyer about gaining full custody because he believes Kelly is “acting recklessly.”
“Michael Dodd is talking to a lawyer about filing a motion to ask the court for full custody. He does not want Kelly around Jolie with her constant travel to NYC,” the source dished. “He believes that Kelly is acting recklessly and could expose their daughter to the virus.”
The insider added that Michael wants Kelly to undergo drug testing and hopes to limit her visits to the weekends only. He is also pushing for supervised visitation, something that would be a major blow for the RHOC star.
Is Kelly Dodd an unfit parent?
The source also said that Michael considers Kelly to be an unfit parent. He has accused her of always being gone and believes she throws too many parties when Jolie is at home.
It should be noted that this is not the first time her parenting skill have been brought into question. It was a frequent topic on the last few seasons of RHOC. Frenemy Gunvalson even claimed that she had been banned from Jolie’s school.
Fans will have to wait and see if Michael is successful in his bid for full custody, but one of Kelly’s close friends is reportedly willing to back up his claims. The pal is allegedly willing to testify about Kelly’s excessive drinking habits.
Kelly Dodd apologizes for her coronavirus drama
While we wait to see how the drama unfolds, Kelly has issued an apology for her comments about the coronavirus pandemic. Taking to Instagram, Kelly told her followers that her comments about “thinning the herd” were taken the wrong way and that she was merely trying to pose a question.
She then assured her fans that she is “not insensitive” to the current crisis and that she “feels bad” for everyone who has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. In conclusion, Kelly hopes that people will forgive her for “saying something so ridiculous and so stupid.”
Bravo has not commented on the situation surrounding Kelly, who made her debut on the network in season 11 of RHOC. The reality star has also remained mum about Michael’s attempts to gain full custody of their daughter.
This, of course, is not the only time Kelly and Michael have butted heads in recent months. Back in November, Kelly slammed her former husband for not being happy about her engagement to Levanthal, saying that he refuses to be happy for her.
Kelly Dodd returns for the new season of Real Housewives of Orange County sometime in 2020.
