‘RHOC’ Alum Tamra Judge Thinks ‘RHONY’ Needs Cast Shake-Up, Says She Would Join
Tamra Judge announced her departure from The Real Housewives of Orange County after being on the show for 12 seasons. However, the fitness enthusiast is not done with the Housewives though and feels she could be of value to another franchise. Judge recently stated that she would be game to cross over to The Real Housewives of New York City as that spinoff needs a cast shake-up.
Why does Tamra Judge want to join ‘RHONY?’
Judge loves reality television and although she was not offered a full-time role in the new season of RHOC, she still wants to be part of the franchise. The TV personality recently revealed that she would like to join RHONY for a very specific reason.
“I think I’d want to go to the [Real Housewives of New York City],” Judge said in a recent episode of the podcast Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef. “Leah [McSweeney] is on there now and I feel like we could have a lot of fun. I told her, ‘I am obsessed with you.'”
McSweeney joined the ladies of the Big Apple in season 12 that also includes Ramona Singer, Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Dorinda Medley, and Tinsley Mortimer, who recently exited. Judge is really happy with the inclusion of the Married to the Mob fashion designer and feels the cast needs to be shaken up.
“NYC needs a shakeup, that’s why I stopped watching and that’s why I was so happy when they brought Leah in,” she added. “I think it needs a little bit of a change in cast, it’s time.”
Andy Cohen on ‘RHONY’ cast
Another person that is really happy with McSweeney joining RHONY is Andy Cohen. The executive producer of all the Housewives franchises is excited about how the fashion designer was able to integrate herself with the rest of the cast.
“First of all, I think that we’re really celebrating Leah [McSweeney] joining the show, ’cause she’s done an incredible job as a first-season Housewife, just getting in there and she’s really integrated really well,” he told Entertainment Tonight in May.
Cohen recognized that the loss of Bethenny Frankel was huge for the show. With the addition of McSweeney, new life was injected into the reality series.
“She didn’t really know any of the women before we started, so it’s great,” Cohen added. “And also, you know, we lost an MVP this season with Bethenny [Frankel] leaving the show. So, listen, it always takes a minute to kind of regroup and find your footing, but they certainly hit the ground running this season and there’s a lot more to come for them. And they are a group that really does see each other throughout the year. This is not a ‘show friendship.’ They’re really in each other’s lives.”
Tamra Judge quits ‘RHOC’
It was at the end of January when Judge confirmed she was not returning to RHOC. Judge revealed Bravo offered her to return for season 15. However, her contract would only be for three episodes. The theory behind this offer was so Judge could wrap up her story on TV. She ultimately declined the offer.
“It’s been a wild ride, and after all these years, I’m looking forward to life away from the cameras,” Judge told People in an interview. “I was offered a chance to come back to the show in a limited role, but would prefer to walk away on my own terms.”
Judge is reportedly working on a new reality show with her RHOC co-star Vicki Gunvalson.
