‘RHOC’: Vicki Gunvalson, Tamra Judge Working on Reality Show Comeback
Vicki Gunvalson became an icon for her appearance on The Real Housewives of Orange County. The OG reality star was a breakout following her “family van” incident on the show. Her antics on the Bravo series were fun for fans and Gunvalson made it through 14 seasons on the show. Over a year since announcing her departure, Gunvalson is revealing she’s working on a comeback with Tamra Judge.
What show is Vicki Gunvalson working on?
Gunvalson made it through 14 years on Bravo and reality TV has been a big part of her life. Since leaving the show, the insurance maven has reportedly been having trouble adjusting to her new life. Gunvalson’s daughter Briana Culberson recently shared that her mother was “still adjusting” to not having to film RHOC.
“I think she’s still adjusting, I don’t think that’s what she really wants for her life,” Culberson said. “I think she misses it and she misses the whole process and everybody.”
Culberson added that her mother felt “like she’s missing a piece of her.” This might be the reason why she’s working on a comeback to reality TV with her friend Judge. During a recent interview with S’More Date, Gunvalson acknowledged what the concept of the show is.
“Tamra and I are actually working on our own show,” Gunvalson said. “We always thought it’d be fun to have Eddie [Tamra’s husband] and Steve [Lodge] on because Eddie loves Mexico and Steve is half Spanish. So, we’re working on some fun stuff.”
The entrepreneur didn’t delve on the details about the television project. Gunvalson didn’t say if she had pitched it to a network or if a pilot had been shot already.
Tamra Judge had hinted at a new project last year
Back in April 2020, Judge had hinted at a new project she was working on with Gunvalson. Due to COVID-19, everything had to be shut down as television production took precautions from the mysterious virus.
“I can’t really say too much,” Judge told Entertainment Tonight last year about the show. “We were about ready to meet with networks and everything got shut down because of the virus. So, we are on hold right now.”
Judge said that she talked to Gunvalson at the time to acknowledge they “paved the way for the Housewives franchises.” The fitness enthusiast said that they also wanted to become a role model for what housewives do after they leave the show.
The former RHOC star also shared an image where she is with Gunvalson in front of a camera. Judge didn’t give context to the photo but she added the hashtag, “life after Housewives.”
In June of that same year, Judge shared a photo of herself and a group of women in an Orange County restaurant. The picture also included Gunvalson and Judge captioned the post, “Celebrating something exciting,” and added the hashtag, “Tamra & Vicki new show.”
‘RHOC’ expecting a cast shakeup
Gunvalson and Judge are two of the iconic stars of RHOC and following their exits, the show might be up for the biggest cast shakeup yet. After season 15, the first season without Gunvalson and Judge, Bravo has put the new season on hold.
Other years, RHOC would have been shooting around this time but Andy Cohen said they are in no rush to start production of season 16. The executive producer also acknowledged that fans are expecting a change with the cast when it returns to filming.
“There’s a clear hope from the fans that there’s some kind of shake-up. And I think we’re analyzing everything,” Cohen told Variety. “I think we just wanted to be really deliberate too. I mean, this is obviously the show that started everything for this franchise. And it’s really important, and it’s important that we keep getting it right.”
Judge has been rumored to return to RHOC but nothing has been official yet. Bravo has also not confirmed when they would expect to resume filming of the show.
