‘RHOD’: LeeAnne Locken Claims She ‘Left’ on Her Own Because She ‘Would Rather Be Happy’
After four seasons, Real Housewives of Dallas OG LeeAnne Locken announced her expected departure from the franchise. Although she claims she decided to leave the series on her own, many, including former housewife Cary Deuber, believe Bravo fired the philanthropist, presumably after her controversial remarks last season.
However, Locken defended herself on Twitter and claimed she chose to leave because she would “rather be happy” than deal with the housewives who “target and attack” her.
LeeAnne Locken starred on ‘Real Housewives of Dallas’ for four seasons
In 2016, actress, former pageant queen, Infinity Dress-maker, and philanthropist, LeeAnne Locken, premiered as an original housewife on Real Housewives of Dallas alongside Cary Deuber, Tiffany Hendra, Stephanie Hollman, and Brandi Redmond.
From the beginning, Locken butt heads with the other housewives as she didn’t think Redmond fit in their circle and thought Hollman was guilty by association.
In the second season, she did not get along with Deuber and spread rumors that the nurse’s husband, renowned plastic surgeon Mark Deuber, engaged in sexual activity with other men.
Then, her longtime friend D’Andra Simmons joined the show, but their relationship quickly fell apart after Simmons implied Locken’s fiance, Rich Emberlin, cheated on her.
Even though some of the ladies have problems with each other, such as Kameron Westcott and Redmond’s ongoing drama, Locken seemingly remains a focal point for the women to team up against.
LeeAnne Locken left ‘RHOD’ after four seasons
In the fourth season, Locken and newcomer Kary Brittingham never started on the same page. The Mexican-native invited the women to her Careyes home and perceived Locken as a negative person who constantly complained.
Locken lashed out by making controversial comments about Brittingham, which many, including viewers and fellow housewives, regarded as racist. While Locken initially defended her actions by claiming she “sat in Julio Iglesias’ lap,” during the reunion, the charity queen admitted she “made a mistake” with her word choice.
In February 2020, only a few months before the presumed taping of Season 5, Locken announced she would not return to the reality series. She provided a statement explaining she has enjoyed the last few seasons but admitted they were “challenging” for her.
Therefore, the Infinity Dress creator has decided to step away from the show to focus more on her philanthropic work.
LeeAnne Locken claims she left ‘RHOD’ because she ‘would rather be happy’
Cary Deuber, an RHOD OG who was demoted to a “friend” after the third season, weighed in on Locken’s departure in an Instagram Live. While broadcasting, a fan pointed out that her friend would not return for the fourth season.
Deuber acknowledged the comment and said, “Yeah, LeeAnne is off RHOD, fired like me. Yay,” implying the charity queen did not decide to leave on her terms.
On Twitter, a fan responded to a poll asking if anyone would miss Locken on Season 5, writing, “So, she was actually asked to leave. Wonder why?” The Infinity Dress creator replied to the user and claimed she left on her own merit and “for a good reason.”
In another tweet, Locken claimed she “felt like I was the target” and now is “booked for three TV shows, two movies, and writing a book.” She also responded to a few others and clarified she left because the other housewives “targeted and attacked” her every season and “would rather be happy.”
Many of her followers replied with her support and wished her the best on her journey after the show.
