‘RHOM’ Star Guerdy Abraira Celebrates Breast Cancer Remission in Glamorous Bash Surrounded by Bravo Celebs
Guerdy Abraira has a LOT to celebrate in 2024. The 46-year-old received a breast cancer diagnosis in March 2023 and battled the disease via chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. Now officially in remission, The Real Housewives of Miami star is spreading awareness via several initiatives, including a cover appearance for The Knot.
Guerdy Abraira is breast cancer-free and ready to party
To mark being the Celebrations Issue cover star for The Knot, Guerdy threw a “Celebration of Life” on October 22, 2024 in Miami. Gathering at Sanctuary MiMo in Miami’s Upper East Side, the luxury wedding planner fêted becoming a “new person” after the “detox” of fighting cancer, as she told The Knot. Guerdy commemorated the occasion with her husband of 20 years, Russell Abraira, and their sons, Miles, 17, and Liam, 11.
Married for over 20 years, high school sweethearts Russell and Guerdy fought her cancer together. He told The Knot, “At first, you don’t believe it. You don’t have time to prepare for that type of thing. But we worked through it, and I did my best to make things easier on her. That was my main goal.” In addition to her beautiful family, Guerdy was joined by several of her co-stars.
‘The Real Housewives of Miami’ cast honored their co-star
The Real Housewives of Miami has seen many cast members come and go. Four mainstays since season 4, however, have been Guerdy, Adriana de Moura, Larsa Pippen, and Julia Lemigova. With de Moura now appearing as a “friend,” the cast has been through several shakeups and dramatic moments. Guerdy’s closest RHOM friend was notably absent from the Celebration of Life.
Dr. Nicole Martin announced that she would not return to the Bravo reality show for season 7, citing her priorities of “my health and my family.” Martin, who gave birth to daughter Genevieve this past month, explained that she was suffering from “significant postpartum anxiety,” according to Deadline.
The anesthesiologist did praise her friend, telling The Knot, “I don’t think I could have done what [Guerdy] did. She shared the most vulnerable moment of her life with us and with viewers. The amount of strength and courage that she demonstrated was absolutely incredible. It really is a testament to who she is: a classy, strong, and determined woman.”
The Real Housewives of Miami began filming season 7 in September 2024. You’ll likely be able to see Guerdy’s Celebration of Life on the show, too. The cast members went all out for the party, donning luxurious white outfits, none more beautiful and extravagant than Guerdy’s — rightly so for such a special occasion.
