‘RHONJ’: Gia Giudice Was Paid $50,000 for the Season, Kim D. Alleges
Kim “D.” DePaola read that Gia Giudice from The Real Housewives of New Jersey was paid $50,000 for her to appear on season 12.
If it’s true, Gia would make close to what a first season Housewife makes. Housewives families and children may receive some money for being on the show and RHONJ has a special clause in their contracts for family members.
Is Gia Giudice making $50,000 for ‘RHONJ’ this year?
While the actual amount children and families are given is not readily available information, Kim believes if the amount is true, Gia earned every penny.
“I read it in one of the blogs,” she said on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast. “And it said that one of the daughters, which was Gia you know, New Jersey Housewives got $50,000. And the husbands don’t get anything. So they were accusing Joe Gorga of finding out and he was mad. I don’t know if that’s true. You know what I mean? But that’s what I read.”
Kim D. thinks Gia should be getting paid
But Kim noted that Gia is now 21 years old and is no longer a child. “She’s not a kid anymore,” she said. “She’s a grown adult. She can write her own ticket. And I don’t blame her for wanting to get paid. You know, she should get paid. It’s almost like paid as a friend, you know? And she brought it last night or the other night, whatever night it was.”
Kim believes Teresa Giudice supports her daughter being paid by production. “And I don’t blame her,” Kim added. “I don’t blame her for that because if they want Gia to do what she did, why shouldn’t she be paid? Because again, there’s still the laundry from the family is still being aired. So if you’re going to do that, you might as well get paid for it.”
Gia stood up to her uncle, Joe Gorga when he made disparaging remarks about her father. He shot back at her but she never backed down. “Listen I say, go, Gia,” Kim said. “And she was the bartender on [Watch What Happens Live]. I wouldn’t doubt if people start paying her for appearances, I wouldn’t doubt it.”
Gia would make almost as much as a first season ‘Housewife’ if true
Paying family members, especially on RHONJ isn’t that unusual. Housewives expert and historian, Brian Moylan wrote about contracts in his book, “The Housewives,” which he shared in Vulture:
“RHONJ has a special carve-out in their contracts, too. They’re the only cast whose husbands also get paid for appearing on the show, which is why they still film together when the ladies are away on a trip. In the past, all of the cast’s children who were over 18 also got an annual stipend for appearing on the show. I’ve also heard that some veteran Housewives’ children who appear frequently, like Tamra’s [Judge from RHOC] son Ryan, also get paid for their participation.”
If Gia made $50,000 for the season, she’d be more on par with how cast members are paid. According to Moylan, “friends” are paid per day of filming instead of a salary. She would also be paid only about $12,000 or $13,000 less than a first-year Housewife. Cast members like Leah McSweeney from The Real Housewives of New York City and Gina Kirschenheiter from The Real Housewives of Orange County were paid about $60,000 to $63,000 for their first year on the show.
