‘RHONJ’: Jennifer Aydin Would Welcome Family-Driven Spinoff Show on Bravo (Exclusive)
Jennifer Aydin is one of the stars of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Although the reality TV personality is only on her third season on the show, she has already made a mark and becoming an iconic housewife. With her family dynamics being so complexed, she recently talked to Showbiz Cheat Sheet about the possibility of her own spinoff series.
Jennifer Aydin’s dad is living with her
During the RHONJ Season 11 premiere, Aydin revealed that her dad was living with her. The relationships within her family are complicated and she stated that her mother and father are not in speaking terms. During our interview with Aydin, she told us about what it’s like having her dad in her same household.
“My dad is a very quiet man, he doesn’t talk too much, he really speaks only when spoken to,” Aydin told Showbiz Cheat Sheet. “He’s very reserved, and he’s shy… he’s old school (…) but it’s been great having him. Honestly, I don’t even feel him here because half the time I forget even around because he doesn’t talk much. But it gives me joy to know that he gets to see the kids every day and live vicariously through them. It’s been really great to have him here. But it’s made my mother really angry. So I’m dealing with that right now.”
Although Aydin doesn’t know what will make it to air on Bravo, she assured us that they filmed a lot and her parents did film a scene together.
Would Jennifer Aydin be game for a spinoff series?
Viewers only get small glimpses of Aydin’s home life as the show has other cast members that also need to be serviced. With a big family like Aydin’s it would be interesting to explore more of those dynamics within her relatives. A spinoff series is something that Aydin told us that she would be interested in.
“I feel that there’s power in sharing your story,” she said. “There’s a lot of things that people don’t like to air on camera, especially my parents [and] the Middle Eastern culture that we come from. It’s very taboo to air, your dirty laundry out there. But I feel that those are the instances where people find you most relatable.”
“It’s not always this whole beautiful facade that we put up,” she added. “If you dig a lot deeper, everyone’s got a story to share. And I feel like there’s no reason to be embarrassed about it. Use that as inspiration for someone to feel that they’re not alone. So, I’m all for sharing my life as long as my family was into it. I’ll definitely welcome that spinoff.”
Aydin’s kids are the most charismatic on camera and they are always up to something. She said that “there would be a lot of content with the kids” if she had a camera 24/7.
“Sometimes even highly inappropriate ones, which I think are so funny,” she said of the content her children would produce. “The funniest things come out of my kids’ mouth. I mean, Olivia walks around the house, drinking water out of a wineglass.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey airs Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
