‘RHONJ’: Kathy Wakile Recalls Quitting the Show After a Scene With Teresa Giudice
Kathy Wakile spent four seasons on RHONJ. True to the show’s nature, family ties were a central focal point, with Wakile being the cousin of Teresa Giudice and Joe Gorga. Sadly, Wakile and Giudice did not have a picture-perfect relationship on the show. Wakile says her final straw with her cousin came during a tense sit-down lunch.
The cousins had a strained relationship on the show
Wakile became a full-time cast member in season 3. Both Wakile and Giudice admit that they were once as close as sisters. Unfortunately, their relationship was less than perfect on the show.
In a chat with Bravo, Wakile explained that she was blindsided by the feud between her and Giudice.

“I had no idea that that’s what the season was going to be…for me it was not like that,” she said. “My relationship with Teresa was great, my relationship with Melissa was great…so I thought sure, we may have some words but we’ll be able to resolve it because we never had a real disagreement before.”
The cousins remain estranged, with Giudice vowing to never forgive Wakile. Per Giudice, Wakile joined the show without Giudice’s knowledge.
During BravoCon in 2019, Giudice explained why she was longer in contact with the Wakilie’s. “That that was the worst thing that could have ever happened to me,” Giudice said. ”That’s why I don’t speak to Kathy anymore. I’ll never speak to her or Rosie [Pierri] ever again because I don’t want family like that. But my brother and Melissa, for my parents, of course, I forgave them.”
Kathy Wakile recalls being ‘done’ after being called ‘cancer’ by Teresa Giudice
Wakile was a part-time cast member in season 6 and asked for a sit down with Giudice. Giudice initially declined before changing her mind.
Wakile explained that upon learning of Giudice’s decision to not film with her, she went on a trip to Florida with her family. Producers allegedly called Wakile just one day into her vacation and informed her that Giudice wanted to meet the following day. Opting to settle things once and for all, Wakile boarded a plane, ending her family vacation early.
In a recent interview with Bravo, Wakile spoke on the importance of having a meeting with Giudice, explaining, “It was just that I didn’t want to play anymore. I didn’t want to engage anymore. It wasn’t getting resolved. Nobody wants to see this anymore. People want to know that there’s hope for a resolution.”

During the meeting, she once again begged to get back on track. But Giudice was adamant that she didn’t want a relationship, noting she wanted to “cut the cancer” out of her life. Wakile was stunned by her cousin’s analogy.
“I’m done with filming, done with this relationship…nobody calls me cancer, [I’m] just done because I’m far from it,” Wakile declared.
While she admits it was initially hurtful with how things ended, she’s since moved forward and found peace with the situation.
“You can’t expect someone to give you what they don’t have,” she said. “You can’t expect someone to be humble if it’s not in them, you can’t expect someone to express an emotion that they’re not capable of…I’ve learned not to expect people to be better than they really are.”
Wakile has since begun teaching culinary courses for students of Remington College. She also has a dessert cookbook and a line of her own cannolis.
