RNONY’s newest housewife is a New York City native. Chevremont, who was born in Brooklyn and raised in the Bronx, is an art curator, model, and proud Black queer woman. She’s the co-founder of The Josie Club, a Black queer femme and woman-supported and operated social impact group that organizes community around collaborative event productions.

“It’s exciting,” Chevremont told GLAAD of her casting.

“I honestly didn’t think they would be interested in me in the end because they already had a queer woman,” she added. “I wasn’t sure if they were going to want two queer women on a franchise that has historically been about married heterosexual women. I think it was a bold decision and honestly a more authentic representation of NYC.”

After a lackluster 13th season, Bravo decided to reboot RHONY with an all-new cast. All six of those women are returning for season 15: Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, and Brynn Whitfield.

Chevremont says she thinks she’ll bring something new to the long-running reality show.

“My entire adult life has been about representation and using whatever platform I have to get the voices of queer folks of the diaspora out there,” she told GLAAD. “What better way to do so if not as a member of this iconic franchise.”

Chevremont admitted that she and her family had to think long and hard about joining the Bravoverse. But she decided she decided it was worth it to show that “queer women can be successful, beautiful and in loving relationships raising children too.”

Chevremont is the second queer ‘RHONY’ cast member

Chevremont joins Lyons as the second queer cast member of The Real Housewives of New York City. Her comments suggest her family will be a big part of her storyline. That’s a difference from Lyons, who has chosen not to share much of her personal life with viewers. Instead, she keeps the focus on her beauty business.

“I have a relationship, but I would like to not name her,” Lyons told The New York Times earlier this year. “I want to keep her out of the press. That is my commitment to her. It’s off the table. I joined this process. She did not.”

Lyons has also limited how much her teenage son appears on the show.

“There was a lot of filming in the home, and it was just exhausting,” she said. “It’s so disruptive. [Bravo was] very open to reducing that exposure and not having so much ‘home time.’ My son is prepping for college. It’s a very intense time.”
