‘RHONY’ Alum Bethenny Frankel Opens up Applications for ‘The Big Shot’
Bethenny Frankel left The Real Housewives of New York City last year to focus on her production deal with Mark Burnett. After months in development, the former housewife confirmed she is working on a reality show called The Big Shot. Casting has now opened up for the competition series set to have a home on the HBO Max streaming platform.
What is ‘The Big Shot’ about?
Frankel is producing and starring in The Big Shot a competition series that will see contestants vying for a place in the business world. The reality show will consist of eight 30-minute episodes looking to join Frankel’s executive team.
“Aside from motherhood, what truly defines me as a person is being a driven, passionate and hard-working woman determined to make the impossible possible,” the Skinnygirl business founder said in a statement.
Frankel will be using her experience as a business mogul to guide the contestants and become a mentor to all of them.
“My mantra is to come from a place of ‘yes’ and to find and create the solution. I am an executor of visions, and I share and impart that information to those who work with me. MGM has been neck-in-neck with me with ideas and their execution. I couldn’t be more thrilled to continue my longstanding relationship with Mark Burnett on this series and pay this American Dream story forward,” she added.
‘The Big Shot’ applications open up
Although all of the television production has halted due to the coronavirus pandemic, The Big Shot is moving forward with accepting applications to find its contestants. Frankel recently shared information on her social media and was initially hesitant to post.
“I have hesitated to post about this application process given this terrible crisis our nation is facing,” Frankel wrote on Instagram. “I came to the realization that we will, at some point soon, need to return to a new normal, rebuild our lives, and to restore our faith in our society. For many, business will have changed as we know it. We will need to pivot and find creative ways to succeed.”
People that are interested in having a “shot” to be in the reality series can do so filling out the application here.
Bethenny Frankel reacts to ‘RHONY’ premiere
Frankel announced her departure from RHONY days before filming for season 12 started. The latter recently premiered on Bravo and the first scenes were of the remaining Housewives reacting to her departure.
“The beginning of the show was the proverbial middle finger to me,” she said in an interview with Extra. “The women have definitely had some unpleasant things to say about me… I wish them well.”
The mogul also took a jab at the show saying that the ratings were declining because it’s content people don’t want to watch anymore. Perhaps she was tooting her own horn teasing that the reality show she’s producing is more inspirational.
“The ratings overall in television have never been higher and perhaps the ratings on Real Housewives aren’t doing well because it’s sort of not maybe the content that is inspiring people to do what they need to do right now,” Frankel added. “Or maybe they want to watch the news or something uplifting or some way to pay it forward.”
The Real Housewives of New York City airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
