‘RHONY’: Elyse Slaine Insists Ramona Singer Would ‘Beg to Trade’ Leah McSweeney for Bethenny Frankel
Elyse Slaine from The Real Housewives of New York City says that bringing Bethenny Frankel back to the series would make for interesting television considering newcomer Leah McSweeney is fearless and stands up to Ramona Singer.
“I know that Ramona had real problems with Bethenny,” Slaine dished on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast. “Because I think she thought Bethenny had no boundaries. And would say and do anything.”
“And now I think Ramona would beg to trade Leah for Bethenny to come back,” Slaine insists. Slaine also pondered what the combination of Frankel and McSweeney would look like if the two were on the same show. Plus she considered how another alum, Jill Zarin might join the mix and even form an alliance with Singer, who was her frenemy on the series.
She could see Frankel and McSweeney duking it out on the show
“Bethenny and Leah, they’d be a really interesting dynamic,” Slaine envisions. “I think that they’d respect one another’s intellect. I think Leah’d do great things as a springboard from the show, just like Bethenny has.” Slaine previously revealed that she knew both Zarin and Frankel and introduced them to each other. Slaine lost touch with Frankel over the years. She had a falling out with Zarin but the two have since reconciled.
“But I think [Frankel and McSweeney] would go at it,” she continues. “Yeah, it could be a fight to the death. They’re both very strong. They’re both very cutting, they’re unfiltered. So yeah, no one stood up to Bethenny really. I think people were afraid of Bethenny.”
Slaine sees McSweeney giving Frankel a run for her money. “Leah has no fear. I’d love to put these two in a boxing ring,” Slaine laughs. Adding that, “I think Ramona’s now finding herself in an alternate universe with Leah.”
But McSweeney isn’t an instigator in the group, Slaine adds. “She reacts. So when you show Leah love and understanding she gives it right back. But Leah’s a good mirror. So when you give Leah a hard time, hell has no fury.”
Slaine thinks Singer would team up with Jill Zarin
What would happen if alum Jill Zarin returned? She and Singer weren’t exactly the best of friends when Zarin was on the series. But, “I think you would actually see a Ramona [and] Jill alliance,” Slaine predicts.
“I think these two women, who have been very outspoken, in a negative way about one another in the press … it would be like Game of Thrones,” she says. “Where the different kings and kingdoms just had to come together to defeat the White Walker. Leah’s that White Walker. And I think that Ramona and Jill would team up to try to defeat Leah.”
She adds if she could re-write Game of Thrones, the White Walker would win. And that everyone would have to “join forces” to take on McSweeney.
The Real Housewives of New York City is on Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
