‘RHONY’: Harry Dubin Says He Originally Pursued Sonja Morgan
Harry Dubin, who is often seen on The Real Housewives of New York City recently shared that he went to great lengths to get to know Sonja Morgan when they were both in their twenties.
Dubin opened up about his relationships with both Morgan and Luann de Lesseps on Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef, Bravo’s The Daily Dish reports. He’s almost become an honorary Housewife on the New York franchise as he’s dated at least five cast members from the series.
His ex-wife, Aviva Drescher revealed the cast total on Out in the Wild podcast. “Me, Ramona, Sonja, and Luann,” she dished. But then added a cast member no one knew about. “Kelly [Bensimon] too. Like off-camera. Somewhere in the past few years. I’m not surprised [that he’s dated, five cast members]. Because I think at this age, late forties, early fifties, I think that there’s very few single, nice men out there.”
But Sonja Morgan really stole his heart
Dubin spoke about Morgan as though she was the “one who got away.” He described meeting Morgan and only learning her first name. “This was before the days of cell phones, so we’re talking a long time ago. I had a car phone,” he said. “We had a great time. She said she was staying at the Park Hyatt hotel. There’s ten of them in Washington DC. She left, and I scoured the city looking for her hotel room. I only knew her name … Sonja.”
He says it only took about an hour for him to locate Morgan. But once he found her, they quickly connected. Dubin recalls he and Morgan hit a jazz club and then he returned to her hotel room where she reportedly bathed him. “It was great. To this day I tell her that,” he said about the memory.
Dubin added that they had a long-distance relationship. She resided in New York City, while he was living in Washington D.C. He ultimately got engaged to someone else but added, “It never really ended with her, but it ended.” Cameras captured Dubin getting serious with Morgan once again, but the two broke it off when it appeared he snuck off with Luann de Lesseps.
He says about Morgan, “We’ve been very close since then. I have the utmost respect for her and I love her to death.”
Speaking of Luann de Lesseps …
Dubin also opened up about his relationship with de Lesseps too. In fact, he portrayed the relationship as he was the one pursued by de Lesseps. Dubin said he met de Lesseps at one of Morgan’s cocktail parties. Instead of going to dinner with the rest of the guests, de Lesseps suggested she and Dubin go out on their own. Dubin describes that they “had a very nice evening.”
He added, “That’s the way Luann is. She goes after what she wants and she gets it. You can’t really deny that.”
Dubin has dated so many cast members from the show, Kate Chastain from Below Deck joked about how she needed to enhance her game after she moved to New York City. “I’ve lived in Manhattan for exactly 6 weeks now and still haven’t made out with Harry Dubin so clearly I need to step my game up,” she tweeted last June.
