‘RHONY’: Is Dorinda Medley Avoiding Andy Cohen’s Questions About Drinking?

Does Dorinda Medley from The Real Housewives of New York City dance around reunion host Andy Cohen’s questions about her drinking?

A preview clip from the first part of the reunion shows that Cohen becomes a little frustrated when he wants to talk to Medley about her drinking, but Medley is fixated on talking about faults in the other cast members. “I want to talk about you,” he said to Medley as he tried to re-ask about her drinking. “I feel like you’re deflecting every time I ask this question.”

So what led Cohen to view Medley’s response as deflecting? He asked Medley a viewer question about her drinking which produced a long-winded response.

Dorinda Medley brings Ramona Singer into the conversation

Cohen asked, “Dorinda it seems that nobody gets as mean as you do when confronted about your alcohol use. Why are you so defensive about the subject?”

“No, that’s wrong,” Medley replied. “Ramona [Singer]did it as a zinger. And it had nothing to do with —” Singer then cuts her off and the two bicker. “She’s so petrified,” Medley said after telling Singer she’s alright in a mocking voice. Singer returned the same remark using a similar tone.

“Darling, you’re petrified that people are calling you a drunk,” Singer said in a condescending voice. Medley sat back and grinned, then told Singer that she’s a drunk instead. Then both women remarked how they felt sorry for each other as Cohen waited.

Does Dorinda Medley answer the question?

Cohen tried to get the conversation back on track. “Dorinda, I asked you a question,” Cohen said. “It seems like you get very defensive when anyone brings up your drinking.” Medley finally decided to address the remark.

“I’m very sensitive about that,” she admitted. But then turned to Singer. “And I would expect someone like Ramona, instead of using it as a weapon …” Cohen wanted to know why Medley was sensitive about her drinking.

“Because I find it to be accusatory maybe,” she suggested. “I try not to point out like when Ramona’s drinking or when Ramona’s sleeping with all kinds of people. I try not to point it out.” Leah McSweeney looked taken aback.

“See she can’t answer the question!” Singer exclaimed.

“Dorinda doesn’t like to be told that she’s had too much to drink,” Luann de Lesseps said. “And I get that. I just look out for my friends because God knows I’ve had my …”

“I’ll say that about Lu, she does,” Medley said. “Ramona does it to harm people’s reputations and to be harmful.” Sonja Morgan seemingly agreed with the statement and said, “Yep!”

“You’re a drunk, I’m angry, you’re bipolar,” Medley said nodding and gesturing toward various cast members. “She says she’s for women, but she’s not at all.”

The three-part Real Housewives of New York City reunion begins on Thursday at 9/8c on Bravo.
