‘RHONY’ Reunion: Andy Cohen’s Assistant Daryn Carp Reveals a Major Reason Why the Reunion Was Canceled
The Real Housewives of New York City Season 13 reunion wasn’t only canceled due to a racist claim investigation, Andy Cohen’s assistant Daryn Carp recently revealed.
Carp, who works closely with Cohen and producers wanted to set the record straight about why production did not move forward with the RHONY reunion, sharing that a major reason had everything to do with production and timing.
The ‘RHONY’ reunion would have aired months after the season finale
Carp acknowledged the investigation but said the RHONY reunion timeline was too far delayed. “I will clarify that the RHONY reunion, it was a lot of honest, just production issues,” she said on the Watch What Crappens podcast. “And then by the time that we got all the schedules together, it had already been like a month or two since we ended the season. And then once we edited it, it wouldn’t have come out until literally last week. So it would have felt like old news, and by that time they were just like, let’s start fresh. Let’s get a new season. The season was rough anyway. So I just want to clarify that it wasn’t like a 100% Ramona said something racist.”
So why were there so many production issues this season? “Sometimes it’s a matter of like of just scheduling these people,” Carp admitted. “You know, Eboni [K Williams] has, like a lot of these women, have like full-time jobs kind of outside of what they’re doing. So it’s a matter of getting spaces with COVID regulations, all of that stuff. It was just kind of hard. I can’t say like what one thing happened in terms either because I don’t work at the production company, but I do know it was really just production issues.”
Daryn Carp said the timing wouldn’t have worked for the reunion
Carp also compared the drama that went down during the RHONY season to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season. “And then it was a timing thing because you need things to be … Like the fans need answers as soon as it’s done. You know what I mean? Like even Erika Jayne, if that was in six months from now, it just wouldn’t hold the same thing.”
Bravo cast reunions typically air the week immediately following the season finale. Podcast host Ronnie Karam acknowledged that the season was too explosive to suddenly revisit it much later. “That was a pretty controversial season to be like six weeks later, ‘OK let’s go through it – Black Shabbat! [ in his best Andy Cohen voice].”
What was another reason the ‘RHONY’ reunion was delayed?
Earlier reports pointed to an investigation made against Ramona Singer for making racist claims. According to Page Six, a production source shared that Singer said “This is why we shouldn’t have Black people on the show” about Eboni K. Williams.
Singer denied she made the remark. “I never said that. It’s a terrible lie,” Singer told Page Six. “It’s very disappointing that even after my name was cleared that people still want to slander me.” Singer was later cleared, but apparently, Williams wasn’t happy with the outcome.
