‘RHOP’: Candiace Dillard Calls a Fan a ‘Worthless Imbecile’ for Referring to Chris Bassett as a Deadbeat Father
In Real Housewives of Potomac Season 3, Chris Bassett called Candiace Dillard “spoiled,” something she considered “unforgivable” at the time. She became so upset that she sent her then-fiancé a harsh text message where she called him a “s**t clone of his deadbeat father.” Nearly two years later, Dillard bragged about being spoiled on Twitter and then called a fan a “worthless imbecile” for referring to her husband as a deadbeat.

Before joining Real Housewives of Potomac in its third season, Candiace Dillard worked in the White House Offices of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs under President Barack Obama and served as a staffer for his 2012 reelection campaign.
She also competed in several pageants and still holds numerous top placements, including Miss United States. Additionally, she founded mentorship and women’s empowerment organization My Sister’s Keeper as well as Prima Hair Collection and her own pageant consulting company.
While working as a host at a Washington D.C. restaurant, Dillard met the manager, Chris Bassett, and the two began a romantic relationship. The former Miss United States and cookbook author then became engaged shortly before joining Real Housewives of Potomac in its third season.
Viewers watched the couple plan their exuberant wedding while dealing with her overbearing mother. At certain times, many questioned if the two would last as they dealt with problems stemming from her spending habits and “spoiled” behavior.
Additionally, Bassett had three other children with two different women, including an estranged son he hasn’t seen for over 10 years. Nonetheless, viewers watched the couple married in a glamorous ceremony in the fourth season.
Even though they were working on reuniting Bassett with his eldest son, it’s unclear if the two have had any form of communication. When a fan speculated about the situation on twitter, Dillard clapped back.

In an April 15th tweet, Dillard claimed the term “spoiled brat” doesn’t insult her as she’s a “mama and daddy’s girl,” can get whatever she wants, and has a husband who “is obsessed with me and takes care of his wife.”
Dillard concluded by explaining she’s “blessed” while the haters who call her a spoiled brat only “wish.” Even though the former Miss United States responded to several people who had something to say about her tweet, she took time to go off on one particular viewer.
In a now-deleted tweet, a fan questioned how Bassett takes care of her when he doesn’t provide for his son. She responded, “who told you that?” and the fan answered, “You and Chris told the world.”
The follower also referred to her husband as a deadbeat, and Dillard snapped, writing, “Please go to hell and remember you’re watching tv while you’re down there. You literally sound like a lunatic.”
Not wanting to “come off as rude,” the follower apologized but hoped “for a resolution between father and son.” Dillard replied, explaining, “referring to a man you’ve never met” as a deadbeat is “pathetic.” She then said the viewer is the “reason birth control exists” and called them a “worthless imbecile” and a “fan who didn’t get enough love as a child.”
Bassett also jumped in the conversation and asked the follower if she knew him or his kids personally, and the fan apologized again. He replied, “All good… Enjoy the upcoming season!” Real Housewives of Potomac Season 5 premieres Sunday, May 3rd, at 8 p.m. EST on Bravo.
