‘RHOP’: Monique Samuels Quits, Won’t Return for Season 6
Monique Samuels has confirmed she won’t be returning for The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 6. The ladies of the Bravo show have been reportedly receiving their pickup contracts for the new season but Samuels has declined to continue. In an Instagram broadcast, the entrepreneur explained to her fans why she had decided to leave the show after four seasons.
Why is Monique Samuels leaving?
Following the RHOP reunion, Samuels took to Instagram Live to talk directly to her fans. During the broadcast, the reality TV personality said she was “over it” and was making the decision of leaving the Bravo series.
“It was a crazy ride, it’s not easy doing reality TV, and to be quite honest, I’m over it,” Samuels said during her IGTV broadcast. “I appreciate everything people have done for me, everybody that has been Team Monique, I love yall, but when you cross certain lines there’s no going back. For me, my family is that line. The opinion of my family and my kids and what they think about that I do is more valuable to me than anybody’s opinion, so, I’m over it.”
Samuels said that she is walking away from The Real Housewives franchise because of her family. She didn’t want her children to grow up and see the rumors grow up and question why she continued to be on a show like that.
“I wanted to represent real Black love and show people something outside what the stereotype has been on TV,” she continued. “Unfortunately, this season I played right into that stereotype. I was working overtime to check myself because that’s the opposite of what I want to display. I’m always going to be a great example or a role model for my kids and you have to know when enough is enough.”
Rumors about her family
Although this didn’t become an issue on the show, Samuels has revealed that Gizelle Bryant was behind a gross rumor. During an early episode of season 5, Bryant said that Samuels and Candiace Dillard fell out after being involved in a rumor about the paternity of Samuels’s baby. Samuels went on to talk to fans on Instagram to reveal the alleged plot.
“Gizelle is planning to go to [the] reunion to tell people Chase isn’t Chris’s and that you were cheating on him and that’s not his baby,” Samuels said that Huger told her.
Putting into question the paternity of Samuels’s baby was a low blow and the RHOP star was agitated about the rumor, with reason.
“How disgusting is it? You can say whatever you want about me, but to talk about my child?” Samuels added. “If someone were to talk about anyone of Gizelle’s daughters or even the illegitimates from her ex, she would go berserk. To bring up my child’s name, when you know the mess ain’t true, how low and disgusting is that.”
The Real Housewives of Potomac will start filming season 6 at the beginning of 2021 and air on Bravo later next year. The cable network has not confirmed which other housewives will be returning for the new season.
